"More harm than good."

Not really. We expect the administrators to protect the kids, not just fire the teacher and forget it all.

Actually the principal at this particular high school tried to cover everything up initially. My wife and I both are teachers and thought this was the wrong move. When everything became public; principals were replaced, moved, or retired. End result was many principals now refuse to take a stand against students/parents in general. This allows further disciplinary problems as parents can never believe their son would do this or that. Principals are so sensitive to rocking the boat when they only have a year or so until retirement. They don't want irate parents, school bd members, ect causing problems. So you see more behavorial issues than ever before.

Both teachers received 2-3 months for their crimes. The school district will suffer longer over all the problems.

Teachers & sex abuse cases are nothing new either. I remember such incidents occurring 20 years ago too. Actually probably no more frequent than in the general population. They way they are going after the Catholic Church; seems strange they never cover such issues in other components of our population; such is the free press.
