I think the military, at least for the next few years, is in a much more productive role on our borders than doing exercises in their forts around the country or in babysitting missions throughout the world in places like Japan, Germany etc.

The troops won't be leaving Japan or Germany anytime soon. Clinton decimated our military. We're at war.

Bottom line: we don't have the men to man the border, we need volunteers.

Furthermore, increased manpower along the border, regardless of how you achieve it, won't stop the flood so long as we fail to deport Illegals in significant numbers from the American interior.

True, our military does not have the resources to "perfectly" seal the borders but their presence will certainly reduce the numbers of illegals crossing our borders--which is the point. I also think your idea of enlisting volunteers to help the cause is a good one.

I agree. The solution to the illegal immigration crisis requires a disciplined multi-pronged approach that addresses each component of abuse. There is no one magic bullet here.
