Excellent Post varon. You described the dynamics of the Mexican invasion most insightfully.

Look at the jails, the schools, the county hospitals, and the gang related crime death tolls. Looks pretty hostile to me, and most people agree. Perhaps you should think about going back to your homeland to mull these issues.

The DOD is not supposed to operate within our borders.

Where on earth did you ever get that idea? Can you tell me who or what is supposed to protect this country from foreign invasion?

Who would you have them kill?

How about terrorists, drug runners and hostile Mexican army troops that shoot at our BP?

About a month ago there was a thread posted in the news that Bush and Rove were planning on "destroying" Tancredo. Hence why you shouldn't get your hopes up.

"I don't really care what methods are used to accomplish this."

The DOD ought to be defending our borders from and ridding this nation of illegal aliens and potential terrorists. I hope you haven't forgotten 9/11 so soon. That was one very bad day that most of us would not like to see repeated.

I don't really care what methods are used to accomplish this.

Change The Constitution, attack the source of the problem or get off the pot.
Vote/Donation pimping via bashing the EFFECT of the problem is tacky and cowardly.

I hate taxes too, but if you pay an illegal under the table, you have just perpetuated the invasion! Saved $10.00 on a yard mowed,Clap, clap. You just cost yourself and the rest of us thousands in tax dollars to support anchor babies and the rest of the handouts to illegal invader criminals.Mexico extends their appreciation. No amount of self serving "compassion" will excuse any contribution to the downfall of our country.

Well I agree with you there sarasmom. You raised many a good point. Knowingly employing illegals is the starting point of the illegal immigration problem. If this side of the problem is not addressed we will never solve the illegal alien dilemma.

Yes it's not only about time, but it's also a crystal clear demonstration of how horribly Bush and his gutless administration have utterly bungled and even blocked a solution to the massive and ongoing illegal immigration problem they have done absolutely nothing about. This makes the current administration as corrupt and worthless as the former one on this and other critical issues and cannot be relied on to do a damned thing to stop it. Especially now when millions of lives are at risk from insane wide open borders, politics and party loyalty are meaningless and have no bearing on national security.

Only the ignorant gripe and moan with fear about OUR military being "let loose" on our borders to control what it is in reality an invasion pure and simple. As if utter chaos and total disorder are preferable. The US-Mexican border IS an international border just as the US-Canadian border is, and is within the most basic Constitutional duty of our national government to secure and control it with armed military troops if necessary. And, there is ample evidence that the civilian agency the INS is utterly incapable of doing this. Yes, of course punishing and fining domestic employers and enablers of this illegal flow must go hand in hand with border security, but the bleeding must be stopped first and stopped cold, no more bullshit and no more excuses.

Congress passed the "Posse Comitatus Act" in 1878 to end military occupation of the Southern states during the post-Civil War Reconstruction period. "Posse Comitatus" is literally the power of a sheriff to summon the assistance of the general populace to help keep the peace or to pursue and arrest felons. However, the Posse Comitatus Act was passed to prohibit local law enforcement from enlisting any branch of the military and local law enforcement functions. The statute embodied a long-standing principle in Anglo-American law that there should be a total separation of the military from civilian law enforcement. During the debates on the original Posse Comitatus Act, Southern Democrats complained bitterly about the oppressive use of the military in a law enforcement role. One Southern Senator said, "whenever you...use the Army to...discharge those duties that belong to civil officers and to the citizens, then you...no longer (have) a government for liberty; it has become a government of force."

Go read P.J. O'Rourke's Parliament of Whores, specifically the chapter titled "The Whiffle Life," and then tell me that the average American gives an airborne fornication about stopping drug smuggling.

I havent read this book but is the author hoping for more apathy? On this issue most Americans do want something done to stop illegal immigration.

Well, that should be interesting. From what I understand Mr. Tancredo is safe in his district and will probably win re-election. What do you think the President and Karl Rove could do to destroy him? Many people are supporting Tancredo and his immigration reform caucus. Whether he stays or goes, we are not going away, so the President is going to have to deal with us. We want our borders secured, we want serious immigration reform and we do not support amnesty for criminals who ignore our laws.

Nothing at all. However you do not get the option of defining hostile do you?

Our laws and rights define what is hostile. Some would say the problems with illegal immigration, illegal drug smuggling, and the regular violation of our borders would be self-evidently hostile and lead to alot of other problems. It just takes a little acknowledgement of reality.
