Is there any way to find out if he has family in the united states. I have a friend form my school from senegal who is also named Kieta. He came here legally and is a genial, moderate muslim. I ask in hopes this will not end in a revocation of his legal status and cut short his promising basketball career.

OK.

A Senegalese man accused of carrying false documents and a training manual for transporting hazardous materials will remain jailed in Atlanta until a hearing next week.

From Senegal. False documents. Training manual transporting hazmats

The man,..., 38...

Male, 38 yo.

...and a firm in Austell said he had done driving training there.

Diving training.

The FBI arrested him in Atlanta on Tuesday and charged him with fraudulently obtaining a Social Security number.

False SSN.

He also was found to have two fake Georgia commercial driver's licenses.

False DL's.

Keita was detained in Texas by the Immigration and Naturalization Service in April, but later was released in Nevada.

Let into the country, and allowed to remain in the country, by the incompetent INS (INS = Indifferent to National Security).

A court hearing was postponed Thursday and rescheduled for Tuesday. U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Alan Baverman said he will hold hearings to determine the man's true identity and whether probable cause exists to hold him for trial.

The wellspring of a plethora of incompetence: INS + Federal courts.

A former employer in Atlanta said Keita was a quiet and reliable worker who "never gave anybody any trouble at all."

At least someone is attending to the terrorist's handbook.

But Patti Watson, vice president of Atlanta Miscellaneous Steel, also said, "When I heard of all the terrorists and how they just fit into the country and worked very quietly, he somehow fit the profile in my mind."

Someone is awake here. Remarkable.

Since his layoff, she said, she had received telephone calls from several companies checking his references. One that stood out was from a company wanting to hire him as a cross-country truck driver, Watson said. "When I heard that, it was like putting pieces of a puzzle together."

Ding! Ding! Ding!

In February, he completed instruction at Katlaw Truck Driving School in Austell for over-the-road transportation of hazardous waste and was hired by Werner Enterprises. Keita told authorities in April that Werner sent him to a school in Arizona to learn how to transport hazardous materials. A Werner Enterprises employee confirmed Thursday that Keita worked for the transportation company as a driver.

Good God almighty!

Keita was detained April 26 in El Paso, Texas, after a Border Patrol agent noted that he had improper immigration documents. He later was released from a Las Vegas INS detention center where he had been transferred because of overcrowding at the El Paso INS facility. After the release, FBI agents in Texas obtained an arrest warrant for Keita.

Sensing a pattern here? INS + Federal courts = chaos. Bureacratic incompetence doesn't even begin to address the issue. I'd rather have the Soprano's run the country.

Hazardous material trucks and their drivers have come under increasing scrutiny. Homeland security officials have expressed concern that terrorists could use a truck hauling gasoline or other hazardous materials to kill thousands of people.

Well Duh! So what are you going to DO about it? Give more drivers licenses to illegal immigratnts and terrorists?

Too bad we can't profile terrorists.

We are doomed.

Here in North Carolina, INS busted - and federal courts did plea bargains including deportation - quite a few Moslem illegals for any charge imaginable. Many involved fake ID.

Others were busted for normally-ignored things like overstating finances on loan applications - just to pressure them to take plea bargains including deportation.

INS also busted many illegals working at Charlotte Airport - out of fear that they were vulnerable to blackmail.

Thats because they're all hoping to get jobs shipping nuclear waste across the US to Yucca Mtn. It will pass thru major cities no matter which route they take.

Go, Patti! Glad that we ordinary citizens are clueful, even if our government isn't.

Nice find, Billy. Pinging some GA FReepers.

I'm surprised the Atlanta Heartburn and Constipation didn't give the story the "Look how we are persecuting this poor, mis-profiled immigrant" spin.

That said, may there be more arrests of illegals suspected of abusing their "rights" by training for terror and plotting against US citizens.

Take THAT, liberal, leftist, mamby-pamby, ACLU-kissing swine!

...fraudulently obtaining a Social Security number...found to have two fake Georgia commercial driver's licenses...hold hearings to determine the man's true identity...

He may be innocent and released. We have to see if he's done anything or not...

Keita told border agents he came to the United States in September 1998 and had lived in Atlanta until July 2001

The man told authorities he returned to Senegal in July last year but came back to the United States the week after Sept. 11

...detained April 26 in El Paso, Texas, after a Border Patrol agent noted that he had improper immigration documents.

... transferred because of overcrowding at the El Paso INS facility...

Good golly, fake i.d. fraudulently obtained licenses, INS can't be sure when he entered or left apparantly, but hey, he may have done nothing and we will just let him go.

We are in sorry shape folks when we can allow immigrants to run around faking their way through our system. How is none of this illegal?

Was I just raised wrong. Should I go out and get some fake i.d. and SSN numbers and see what fun things I can do? Avoid taxes, pick up a professional license or two and drive hazardous material through your neighborhood.

The point here is if he had nothing to hide and was here legally, why all the fake documents?

DEPORT! DEPORT! DEPORT!

I wish I could win the lottery, I'd take out huge newspaper adds and advertise on billboards to wake up America and clean house of the illegals and wait to allow more in until we can track them safely.

That's easy - he's gotta go. Delta is ready when he is. We have no business allowing him to stay in the US. He's gotta go.
