Let's suppose the milkman is a suspect. He drives by the house daily. He has a good understanding of the house and the layout. He even fantasizes a plan but can't find the right opportunity. Then this drifter shows up and suddenly there's an opportunity. He makes the snatch, but before doing so, he is sure to photograph the strange car to help the police when the investigation begins.

That sounds about as plausible as any other theory out there. Wonder if the guy wore a white cap. What's the name of the dairy? Do they have a web site where we can view their employee uniforms?

I haven't formed any theories. I'm just fascinated with all the theories put forth here. I admit that there are a lot of things that seem odd about this whole thing, but I have no idea what to make of it. Just using my "gut instinct", I would say that the milkman looks rather innocent. But, as you say, each theory is as plausible as another at this point.

No, no, no--the milkman did not photograph the car. That was suspicious homeowner Thorkelson from Draper.

this is the way the pic of the guy in the car came about: milkman told police that he had seen a suspicious grey car hanging out near/on the Smart's street just a day before the kidnapping....On wednesday, i believe...another neighbor remembered that he had seen a small green car with similar lic. in his hood, and even took a pic of it... He called the police with the pics....lic plate was re-run thur the computer and presto...the non-suspect suspect's name came up ... Don't know where they got the pic however
