SPRING HILL The co-owner of a Spring Hill newspaper was arrested yesterday after a police officer said he witnessed the man screaming at a woman in a McDonald's fast-food restaurant and then threatening her with a window washer's squeegee.
Paul Holland Overton, 67, of 5045 Port Royal Road, co-owner of The Informer, was taken to the Williamson County Jail, where he was released last night after posting $1,000 bond, a jail officer said.
A telephone call to Overton's home yesterday was not answered.
Overton is charged with assaulting Pam Morrow, 39, of 2506 Pitts Court, Columbia, while she was ordering food at the McDonald's in Campbell Station Commons shopping center, according to police officer Willie Scroggins' report.
According to the report, the incident began when Morrow asked the cashier a question as she was handing Overton his change.
Overton ''became irate, ordered Ms. Morrow, 'Shut up! Can't you see she's waiting on me?' '' the report said.
Overton then ''blocked the doorway, verbally challenged Ms. Morrow 'to do something,' and intentionally bumped her with his left elbow.''
As Morrow attempted to leave the store, Overton asked a window washer if he could borrow his squeegee pole ''in case I need it,'' the report said.
Scroggins was eating lunch at the time and witnessed the encounter, during which Morrow said she ''was fearful for her safety,'' the report said.
LOL. That's bad. Saturn cars are built there and the locals who were there when it came in made out like bandits. If he is one of those, they are very wealthy and feel pretty self-important. That MIGHT be a contributing factor.
Sooooo when do we see a 5-day waiting period on squeegees?
(told ya somebody had to say it)
