It's not that I don't enjoy wild open spaces, mountains, clear streams and trees. The 'environment' covers on awful lot of ground over the political spectrum. Certainly the public fool system has every kid in the country we are killing the planet and we'll all die of acid rain. Don't ask them their multiplication, though.

The way these groups, who are not elected to anything but are well funded, go about 'monkeywrenching' is what bothers me. At first glance, one might think that Conservation groups and Hunters would be natural allies with the "environmentalists"; This is not generally so. Why do you suppose that is? How about Fishing? Duck Hunters have provided for lots of habitat for ducks -- and benefits all species -- without making a federal case out of it.

I don't know, but President Bush has issued a statement in which he "strongly" condemns the asteroid for its "unprovoked and vicious act of terror".
