CATONSVILLE, Md. -- Two wheels fell off a public transit bus in the 18th such incident in less than a year, frustrating officials who thought they had solved the problem.
No injuries were reported when the bus, carrying 16 passengers, lost both of its right rear wheels Wednesday. One of the 200-pound wheels rolled onto a grassy embankment; the other fell over next to the bus.
After the accident, Transportation Secretary John D. Porcari ordered every Maryland Transit Administration bus reinspected before being allowed back on the streets.
