Another reason to like country music...and is anyone surprised that ABC would take this position?

Well, ABC, guess which special I now have absolutely no intention of watching? And whose nightly news I haven't watched in years...
Tell me, ABC, do you folks at the network do this on purpose, or are you just that monumentally dim?

If I were Toby, I'd sing it anyway as he walked on stage, unplanned. What would ABC do, pull the plug? I doubt it, not without risking a publicity and ratings nightmare. Peter Jenning can go to hell too, as far as I'm concerned.

Being a luke warm country music listener...this song touched a nerve with me...and certainly expressed one aspect of what I was feeling. Peter Jennings is an *ss"

"I find it interesting that he's not from the U.S.," Keith says of Jennings, who is Canadian. "I bet Dan Rather'd let me do it on his special." From Jennings to Dan Blather?? Boy is he confused or what?
To: TADSLOS
Sing it anyway? Good idea.
That's what Elvis Costello did on Saturday Night Live so many years ago.
He managed to anger the staff of Saturday Night Live by replacing "Less Than Zero" with "Radio, Radio" (the band played the opening bars of the former and without stopping, launched into the latter, a scathing indictment of radio, the music industry, and - at least at that moment - U.S. network television).

"lettuce roll" P. Jennings

Is Jennings now reviewing all play lists for the network?

Might be confused but there are a lot of folks out there who believe Dan Rather just because it's CBS. My parents, God love 'em, watch CBS Evening News every night not because they agree with Dan but because they grew up on CBS. They were the first generation to have TVs in their house and all that was on
WAS CBS. I've tried to get them to watch FOX but it is a hard transition. They trust the network more than they trust the man reporting the network.
I'm sure FOX would be glad to have Toby Keith on. He's a great artist

"This nation that I love has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin' in from somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world like the Fourth of July
Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty's started shakin' her fist
And the eagle will fly, and it's gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringin' her bell
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is rainin' down on you
Brought to you courtesy of the Red, White & Blue
Justice will be served, and the battle will rage
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
And you'll be sorry that you messed with the U S of A
'Cause we'll put a boot in your ass - it's the American Way!"

And better yet, let me support it further with a download link to "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)". If this song is as good as it sounds, well, call me a pusher,,,er Freeper, that is.
To: Lou L
Can't say I've heard it. Anyone got they words?

While I've never been a fan of Country Music, I'm starting to lean more and more to it because they mostly all seem to be "true Americans", patriotic and all that.
Not only that, but that song ROCKS!!!

American girls and American guys, will always stand up and salute.
We'll always recognize, when we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our heads.
My daddy served in the army where he lost his right eye,
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me.
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.
Now this nation that I love is fallin' under attack.
A mighty sucker-punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man, we lit up your world like the fourth of July.
Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you.
Ah, brought to you, courtesy of the red, white and blue.
Instrumental break.
Oh, justice will be served and the battle will rage:
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage.
An' you'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A.
'Cos we'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way.
Oh, oh.
Of the red, white and blue.
Oh, hey, oh.
Of my Red, White and Blue.

"They trust the network more than they trust the man reporting the network." People also trusted commie lover Walter Cronkite for the same reasons. Many older people simply do not want cable even when they can afford it and are stuck with the TASS USA spin and get no exposure to anything else.
