The reason that I posted the definition of the word "collective" is because you have confused it with the word "collectivism." Teams rely on the collective efforts of their players. Fans cheer their teams collectively. Nothing to do with socialism. Zip.

Furthermore, the writer uses the word "private" to signify "not-collective." Any association with private "property" is in your own brain which, unfortunately, has completely mis-read this article.

Note the correct use of "collective" as an adverb.
