Poor Kristen Modafferi's parents were from Charlotte, NC. They sent their brilliant, beautiful daughter away to NCSU in Raleigh when she was just 17. On Sep 23, 1996, she met Condit at NCSU.

Shortly afterwards, she discovered to her parents' amazement that she had left her heart in San Francisco, a city she had never seen, and on June 19, 1997, she flew there. In four days, she had landed two highly enviable jobs, one at Spinelli's, and an enrollment in a hard-to-get-into art course for the summer.

But on June 23, nine months to the day after she met GC, she was seen earnestly engaged in conversation with a frowzy blonde at Spinellis, and they left together when she got off work at 4 that Friday afternoon. She was so distracted, that she left her first paycheck for some $450, there at the desk in her haste.

She has never been seen since.
