Poor Kristen Modafferi's parents were from Charlotte, NC. They sent their brilliant, beautiful daughter away to NCSU in Raleigh when she was just 17. On Sep 23, 1996, she met Condit at NCSU.

Shortly afterwards, she discovered to her parents' amazement that she had left her heart in San Francisco, a city she had never seen, and on June 19, 1997, she flew there. In four days, she had landed two highly enviable jobs, one at Spinelli's, and an enrollment in a hard-to-get-into art course for the summer.

But on June 23, nine months to the day after she met GC, she was seen earnestly engaged in conversation with a frowzy blonde at Spinellis, and they left together when she got off work at 4 that Friday afternoon. She was so distracted, that she left her first paycheck for some $450, there at the desk in her haste.

She has never been seen since.

After being declared a suicide for 2.5 years in spite of her family's protests, Chaing was suddenly made a homicide in late July of 2001 by DC police.

I have always wondered if it were not something uncovered in that month by the DCP in their search for Chandra, that made them finally, on their own, do what the Chiang family had been fighting for but being turned down as late as June, just a month earlier.

Instead of video cameras at DC intersections, they should really take a bite out of crime by installing video cameras panning all views of DC parks. My bet is that they could tape a felony an hour. Probably four an hour if congress is in town.

In the same period as Alicia, there were two twenty-something lesbians murdered on the Skyline Drive near Luray, Virginia. A man was finally recently charged with their deaths, but it looks dubious to me.

The three girls (Sofia Silva and the Lisk sisters) in Spotsylvania county are still unsolved. Their pubic hair was all shaved off, a known Condit fetish.
