So I pose the follwing question: did we really prevail in the war against communism?

No.

At this point, an American victory over communism is impossible... because America is becoming communist herself. The political campaigns and elections are merely a shell game that satiate the masses into believing they do matter. In reality, there isn't a "two-party" system: there is one party that can/will do whatever is required to stay in power. Up to and including destroying the lives of those who dare question "the way things are". No one who could pose a serious threat is allowed in "the game".

America is now in the final throes of the Soviet Union's fate: stagnation, augmented by the leaders' taking whatever steps they deem necessary to hold onto power, even as that power slips their grasp. An increasing denial that individuals have rights as the state takes unto itself... until the system collapses upon its own weight.

America is dead. She's on a ventilator and only an act of God will resurrect her to vigor. Otherwise, it may be a greater mercy to pull the plug on her.

You know, even in the communist county of Santa Cruz CA, people are starting to be aware and fight back. I have more hope now than I've had in several years.

Our local radio station hosted a show saturday. The guest was a man who'd fled from Hungary in 1972. He described his life under the Nazi's and the communists and pointed out things that are happening in the county that are exactly like the way our local communists in government are running things. He wasn't afraid to say it was communism, like some people are. It was encouraging that a radio station would broadcast his story.

One really important thing to note, this man lived under Nazi and Communist rule. He saw it for what it was and got away. He sees it for what it is now, and is fighting back.

I used to believe otherwise, and was active in GOP campaigns and actually sent them money. After watching them fail to implement a conservative agenda after winning Congress (although I do think many of the "class of 94" were serious about reform, they just got stopped by the RINOS), and now after watching a Republican President enact most of the liberal's agenda, I'm inclined to agree with you.

An overwhelming majority of the evidence supports what you say. Those who cannot see it, are blinded by false optimism.

If there is one reassuring thought it is that Freedom dies hard here in America. King George III and Santa Anna both thought otherwise and were soundly defeated.

One big problem we have, however, is that our Freedom-loving culture is being destroyed from within because of the treasonous educational and immigration policies that have been adopted by both political parties.

I agree with you 100%. I think this country as we know it is soon to be finished. It's happened so gradually over a period of years that most people haven't even really noticed. Your post #4 is right on the money, sad but true.
