I'm so sorry. I am a very busy stay-at-home mother of 3 sons - and I homeschool them, as well. (Well - 2 of them - my oldest son just completed his first year of college.
Even though my intentions have been very good to try and make it to the "get togethers" - my duties as mom came first--you know - baseball practice, orchestra, scouting, etc....
Sorry.

I cannot attend these sessions either (I'm in Virginia). I am hopeful that we will get reports from both training sessions. I would love to know how many activists showed up and of that number, how many are Freepers/lurkers.

I'd love to attend, and this is right here on my home turf, but I can't juggle my schedule in time to make it.
mountaineer, if there is any info that is easily forwarded, please pass it on. I'll be there in spirit. Do you know if any more of these are planned?
To: one_particular_harbour

I don't know if there will be any more of this sort of thing in W.Va. If I find it useful, I'll post some info on the W.Va. page on Sunday.

Thanks a bunch!

Report on the Charleston, W.Va. meeting of 6/8:
The program was led by an energetic young man from the White House political staff and a young woman who works for a political PR firm. They gave a powerpoint presentation called "72 hour task force - putting the people back in politics."
Essentially, we have to beat the Dems at their own game. They get out the vote. They exploit their "base" constituencies (unions, minorities, etc.). They get people involved. Pubbies, on the other hand, tend to be content with writing a check and buying a TV commercial.
Our problems: there's more election day activity by the Dems; we have insufficient "base" turnout (our "base" includes pro-life groups, gun owners, Christians, homeschoolers, small govt. and anti-tax folks, etc.), we have failed to organize at the precinct level and we don't focus on the final 72 hours before the election, like the Dems do.
They talked about setting goals - determining how many votes you need for each precinct, and making sure you get them through personal contact, phone calls, offering rides to the polls, making sure potential voters are registered, etc.
Essentially, utilizing the "team leader" program established by the RNC is a good way to get those voters to the polls (see www.gopteamleader.com).
Overall, I'd say the session was helpful. It was supposed to go from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., but we got it all in before lunch, with time for questions (lunch was included in the program), so I was out of there by 12:40 p.m.
Bottom line, we'll never get rid of the Dems if we don't have grassroots involvement.
