The DC police report that private parties searching the area found several human bones, blood-stained clothes, an abandoned automobile, six hand-guns, a knife, two assault rifles, a box cutter, a wallet, an address book, an envelope of anthrax, Levy's ring and keys, photos, a videotape, a signed confession, and other items the police referred to as "potential clues".
The police issued a formal statement to the media: "Oops! Guess we missed a few things when we were searching the area the first couple times for, uh... what was her name again?"
Congressman Gary Condit (D-CA) was also seen in the park, jumping up and down and waving his hands frantically while shouting "over here, I did it, I did it." Eventually he was asked to leave by police community-service personnel. They said, "Mr. Condit, who is not a suspect at this time, was asked to exit the area for his own personal safety. He was attracting too much media attention and we couldn't guarantee his safety."

Evidence keeps getting in the way of the DC closing this case down. If Ramsey spent as much time directing the department as he does hogging the cameras, they might get something done.

Well, hey, can you say "grid search". First they did not do a grid search far enough out from the Klingle Mansion which is how they missed the body in the first place. And obviously even though they had that crime scene taped off they did not go out far enough.Maybe the DC police were trained by the LA police who missed the body of a seven year old in a clear swimming pool for two days. You have to wonder what is it they are doing when they are "looking" for something

>Police find leg bone near site of Chandra Levy remainsOver in another thread, I made a point about how this kind of thing is becoming common:
... In three high profile cases, however, searches have been meaningless.
- A couple of years ago, when that mother killed her children by putting them in her car and then driving the car into the little pond near her house, the police searched the small pond and found nothing. Then, just a week or so later, the woman took the police to the pond and they found the car right at the end of the ramp.
- When Chanda Levy went missing, the police searched that park, and they knew she had asked for info on that K. mansion, so they had reason to search the park carefully. Still, Levy's body was found in the park.
- That poor little kid was reported as missing from the pool party. Many dozens of police hung out around the pool, and it was specifically searched. Yet a few days later the body of the missing boy was found at the bottom of the pool.
Now, of course, Chandra would have to get a double entry in the list...
I don't know what the heck is going on. Either our law enforcement agencies actually are as terrible as a lot of the FR Let's hate the cop threads paint them as being, or this might be a kind of message -- bad guys may purposefully wait until an area has been searched, and then go back in and plant evidence in the area.
It's happening in such unrelated cases that even as tin foil it's hard to imagine it as some kind of message. Perhaps people in law enforcement are really, really, hopelessly stupid...
