latest Enquirer on Levy-Condit
The National Enquirer | 2002 06 17

Posted on 06/06/2002 11:49:32 AM PDT by Plummz

Items from the latest Enquirer story (rolling out in newsstand/supermarkets over the weekend) I found to be new information:

  1. The running tights were at the base of the tree, perhaps indicating Levy had been tied to it and tortured.
  2. The bracelet Condit gave her was not at the scene.
  3. Her keys were not at the scene, perhaps lending credibility to the theory that someone scrubbed her apartment. (Recall no Condit memntos were found in her apt.)
  4. The source for the above items is a retired California sheriff (who they named) said to be "close to the investigation."
  5. Grand jurors in April repeatedly asked Condit about his relationship with Levy, he dodged and said things like "I can't answer that." The prosecutor broke in to tell the jury to only to ask about obstruction of justice charges. (Plummz note: Of course, prosecutors have no authority to limit a grand jury enquiry, but barely anyone knows that these days, which comes in handy in coverups.)
  6. Many Condit staffers have begun cooperating with the investigation. However, Michael Lynch's lawyer said no comment and Dayton's lawyer did not return a phone call when The Enquirer asked if they appeared before the grand jury. (Or perhaps vice versa, I forget.)

The 3-page article was rounded out with the usual amount of rehashing and speculation.

The Globe had a piece on the memorial service, nothing in The Star.

That would probably indicate that she wasn't buried, which I find unlikely. The aroma would have been rather powerful, the bones probably widely scattered. BTW, were they at or around the base of the tree?

I'm rather certain it said "at."

You have a point about smell, etc. The other possibility, of course, is that the skeleton & clothes were only dumped there within the last few weeks.

Why on earth would the prosecutor feel the need to limit the g.j.'s line of questioning? Boy, does that NOT pass the smell test.

The National Enquirer offerred a huge reward for the killer of Cosby's son. Be nice if they did the same to find the killer of Chandra Levy.

Considering one of the principal owners of these tabloids is David Kendall of slick willie infamy, perhaps it's futile to think they would want to find someone connected to Condit.

I'm sure I've heard that they've been saying she was not buried. They were saying she was under lots of leaves indicating she had been lying there through several seasons.

Thanks for this most interesting post. New info here. This whole case from the get-go STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN! On the one-year anniversary of Chandra's disappearance, some of us FReepers attended the candlelight vigil in Modesto. During the vigil Chris prayed that the truth would come out about what happened to Chandra. Just few weeks later, Chandra's body was found. Maybe we should get Chris to pray that the murderer(s) be identified. I'll send him an email right now. He seems to have an "in" with God Almighty. Amen. For victory & freedom!!!

Gary Condit still sits on the House Intelligence Committee and in fact has been given additional responsibilities for homeland security. Now, don't you feel better? Yes, Scary Gary is watching out for us all.
