Since I am a Damn Yankee living here in NC I understand Detroits calling us "Mayberry". But since they want to get into a pissing match in regardes to a TV show lets take a look at the show often filmed in Detroit...

I think Ernest T. Bass would probably chunk some rocks at those Wing Nuts if he got the chance!

Barney does not look amused.

I liked it when he was tuning the gas can before serenading Charlene Darling.

Well heck, if'uns those yankeess want to start something, we'll just send the Darlins up there to have a word of prayer with the Detroit team. I wouldn't want Mr. Darlin and the 'boys' mad at me.

Disclaimer!!!: This in no way means I like hockey, I just don't like someone making fun of NC. LOL

A few years back UNC-Charlotte offered a class, for college credit, on the Andy Griffith Show. All they did was watch the show and talk about it. I want a degree in Mayberry mythology

I want a degree in Mayberry mythology

Will open up job opportunities to you as much as a degree in Afrocentric Studies.

But I suspect that those with Mayberry Mythology degrees wont bitch and complain that there are no jobs for them when they graduate and try to exhault the greatness and importance of their degree.

Maybe we could get NC State or some other school to start a "BBQ Sciences" department.

Did you all hear the news blip yesterday about the mayor of Detroit, home of the Redwings, calling the mayor of the hometown of the Hurricanes to make a bet?

He called the mayor of Charlotte.

And we're dumb?

Anyhows, what they know 'bout Mayberry up yonner aint big as an ant sneeze. Only ways they'd ever be a learnin' 'bout Noth Carolina would be to downst here - but then they'd never go back... Best let 'em stay ignert.

I luvs this state all the way from Murphy to Manteo - but I luvs them mountains the best!

Did Mike Easley make the traditional 'governors bet' with the Gov of Mich?

And when the Cup visits the legislature building, the "Cup Cops" better keep an eye on it or it might be stolen and held for ransom to close the "budget shortfall".

My problem with North Carolina is that it is in the process of becoming Palm Beach/Broward north as all of the New York/NJ retirees move to the mountains. Charlotte is rather tacky and a wannabe Atlanta.

Besides, we all know the REAL Carolina is South Carolina. It may be boring (my sister lives there), but at least it has a stronger identity than Florida North, aka the Tarheel State.

I'm happy you're happy there, though. You must miss the upstate winters in Endicott, though (NYC winters are comparitively mild).

Yes, Easley bet Krispy Kreme doughnuts while Engler bet Little Caesar's Pizza.
Easley has said he will donate the pizza to homeless shelters if we win.
Awwwww... that makes me feel so warm and fuzzy!

And when the Cup visits the legislature building, the "Cup Cops" better keep an eye on it or it might be stolen and held for ransom to close the "budget shortfall".

LOL! I wouldn't put anything past "Tax Hike Mike"!

HA! Yeah right.

You obviously haven't been to the right places.
Charlotte is tacky... not the REAL N.C. at all.

Ever see the SNL skit where Guiliani held a press conference to discuss the bet between him and Bill Campbell when the Yankees played the Braves? Probably the funniest skit i have ever seen on SNL. Guiliani kept going on how Campbell wanted to bet some Georgia Peaches and Guiliani kept saying no and that he had "Ten Grand on my YANKEES! and that Campbell wouldnt make the bet. Kept referring to Campbell as a wimp and in derogatory southern stereotype terms. It was so funny i fell off the couch laughing.

I didn't see that, sorry.

As an aside, Bill Campbell is from Raleigh. His brother Ralph had or still has some position in state govt. - yeah, they're both Dems.

Okay, back to work for me...
