42 US Govenors declare: America stands firmly with Israel's people
By MELISSA RADLER
NEW YORK Forty-two of the nation's 50 governors signed declarations today that express support for Israel, endorsing its right to live in peace and security, Gov. George Pataki of New York announced.
"Today, governors from around the country send a powerful message that America stands firmly with the people of Israel, united in our belief that a true and lasting peace in the Middle East can only come with a safe and secure Israel," Pataki said.
In an effort headed by Pataki, a Republican, and Gov. Gray Davis of California, a Democrat, a declaration of principles was sent out to the nation's governors on April 15, two days before Israel's 54th anniversary.
Although the texts adopted by the Republican governors differs slightly from that adopted by the Democrats, both declarations state their support for Israel and their opposition to terror attacks; recognize the US and Israel as allies in defense of freedom, and urge all parties in the region to work toward peace.
Anyone know exactly what those differences are? My guess is that it's along the same lines as the Senate and House support for Israel resolutions from about a month ago.
He would sign anything that included a tax hike..but that's all.
The US State Department supports the Palestinian murderers
AND those that fund them and sent their people to attack the US in the 911 Atrocities.
Please.
They are not "interfering with foreign affairs." The Governors are expressing their opinion, and that of the majority of Americans in those states.
First question out of the chute. I love this place. You were all thinking it and you know it.
They were not talking as individuals but as a group of governors. That makes it inappropriate.
I belive in Federalism. I don't want the Federal government getting involved in state matters and vice versa.
It depends. If the state laws interefered with the powers of the Federal government, then the Feds were correct. Otherwise, if the treaty involved matters not in the perview of the Federal government, the Treaty is UnConstitutional and void.
Because they are.
There is a continuing trade in children, both male and female, in Saudi Arabia.
One more reason to loathe the Saudis and to wish a load of nuclear missiles on their perverted heads.
Just in case you're wondering.
