The average nine-year-old has trouble obeying her parents, let alone a total stranger. At the same time, the natural instinct of the average nine-year-old, when truly terrified, would be to go STRAIGHT to her parents as soon as she could. Neither of those things happened here.

Now, the little girl may also really BE terrified at this moment, if her older sister is dead and she has been instructed by someone she knows to tell the police a certain story. Time will tell.

From the news story #1...

Her sister said that she saw the suspect very clearly, which leads police to believe that it was not a family friend.

From story number #2...

"She saw a little bit of what was going on but she couldn't see him real clearly," he said.

These are in direct opposition to each other. The younger sister is what gives me my current opinions of what actually happened. Not to mention that the time of the 'kidnapping' is reported differently in the stories.

9 years old in Utah is like 4 years old in NYC...

while you may be right, you can't discount the hide-under-the-bed terror factor!!
