I dont know which way to go with this one. But something is telling me she was not kidnapped, but rather ran off with a boyfriend.

Flame me if you want, but who thinks that is not a possibility?

I think it is not likely at all to be a boyfriend. I think the girl is already dead.

Anything is possible, including the possibility the abductor wanted to feed her to his pet tiger.

In your scenario, the 14-yo ran off with her driving-age boyfriend, and the little sister is making up a story to cover up what she knows, so that "true love" can bloom. A fake abduction is a bit melodramatic, and not your likely elopement scenario. But if the little sister's making it up, we'll know soon.

Far more likely that the abductor is a pervert who saw her somewhere, followed her home, and took his chance at grabbing her. That'd be very bad: she's probably dead by now.

Some of us over here agree with you

I feel terrible for being such a cynic, but I also remember outrageous stories from Tawana Brawley and Susan Smith, and my alarm went off when I heard that the younger sister waited several hours before alerting her parents.

It just doesn't sound normal, unless the nine-year-old has some sort of diminished capacity.

I'm not convinced that the older sister left of her own free will, or that she is even alive now. I just know something about the story doesn't ring true.

Not my initial reaction-- better to find the girl, first, and ask questions later.

If this kind of scenario plays out and she's OK, when they find her, she will wish she were dead! I pray for the angels to watch over her until she is found...alive.

The house is up for sale, any pervert could have toured the house as a "prospective buyer" and learned who lived in the house and where. I don't see why anyone thinks intimidating a 9 year old is difficult. Children don't usually make up stories like this. Besides it doesn't really matter the circumstances, she's probably dead by now and some scum is walking around out there who will do this again.

Polly Klaas must have been dating tatoo man when he took her from her house.

oceanperch:

I can remember waking up as a child & being absolutely convinced the sound of the heater was instead an intruder walking through the house. I did not move a muscle. I did not scream or call for my parents. I was scared to death; if I showed one sign of awareness, the imagined intruder would know and come into my room & kill me. (A child's imagination in the middle of the night can be as bad as the real thing.)

I can see myself frozen with fear for 2 hours. Sad to think she is automatically doubted because we look at her experience with an adult's perspective instead of a child's.

If the younger sister is in on it her actions would be very obvious. If there was someone in her room that she had met before or there was someone in there that she never met, her reaction while telling her parents and the police would show right through.

IT IS NOT a possibility. (I have a hard time understanding how some people think!) Sheesh. NO flame.. but this kind of question so early in something like this is SO INAPPROPRIATE!!

The little sister said he didn't know his way around the house. They are looking to make sure it wasn't someone viewing the families house (it's on the market), or someone from an internet site the daughter may have visited. It probably is just some sick pervert period.

I think this is another HORRID abduction, and pray for this child and her family. My stomach is churning, what cowards, creeps do things like this? I say show them NO MERCY. Execution. That is what the death penalty is for. Innocent children should be protected from the scum of the earth better than this. These guys don't want to die.. so deter them with putting all preditors like them to death. There are some crimes that deserve the death penalty. Though all the mamby pamby types just won't let us harm a hair on their gross heads. Sickening!!

There was a time in this country where other crimes were punishable by death. Not just murder. This is a crime that NEEDS to go back ON the list. NOW!!

In her pajamas without taking anything else? Letting her little sister by frightened and traumatized? I doubt it. The abductor may have known her, but if she willingly went with a boyfriend, she'd have snuck out and worn something other than pjs.

Here's something I just don't get. Why would this guy leave one of the girls behind after having given her plenty of opportunity to identify him? It sounds by the 9 yr old's testimony that she not only saw him clearly, she also heard him speak. WHy would he not take off with BOTH of them?
