There's no way a 34,000 seat stadium can generate the revenue that a Boston team should be generating. I've thought they should add seats above the Green Monster for a long time. Now, adding more seats on the rooftop??? That's a strange one!

I wish they could've kept Tiger Stadium. I've often wondered if they could have removed some of the columns & replaced them with more modern construction to eliminate some obstructed view seats. Of course they should've removed the 4th-deck press boxes, which I think were put there for football anyway, and which today just adds weight on the columns below. They could've used the extra weight available to put in luxury boxes on the mezzanine. But no - they went & built a brand new stadium, and Tiger Stadium, built in the same year as Fenway Park IIRC (1912) & remodeled shortly after WWII, will eventually be torn down. <sigh>

Fenway is overated and obsolete! 1. Besides the capacity issues the asles are small and the seats are cramped.

2. The poles supporting the roof cause many seats to be obstructed

3. The right field grandstand seats face right field instead of second base or the pitchers mound which is the way it should be

4. The concourse reeks of stale beer and is too small making it time consuming to get concessions

The park has about 10,000 to few seats and the only way to add capacity of high dollar tickets is to double deck the grandstand - The bleachers are to far away to warrent big ticket price that new seats require and any more than the proposed few rows of seats (even if they could build over Landsdowne Street) on the wall would have an obstructed view of left field.

Even double decking the grandstand is problematic becasue of engineering issues (can the current structure support it) and land issues (is there enough of it?).

It is time for a new ballpark in Boston
