Do you understand written English? It says right up there that Mubarak said HE didn't know how bad it was.
I understand written English, and I think you need to read the NY Times article. If anything, this is a story that merits close scrutiny, precisely because the Egyptian head of state is claiming awareness that bin Laden was in the advanced stages of a significant operation, and that Egypt had a secret agent in close contact with the bin Laden organization. He also claims "We told them [U.S.] everything." Either Mubarak is being truthful, or he's not. Let's assume, to diminish unproductive flaming, that he is not being truthful. Either way, we have a serious problem, don't we? It's not about how bad it was. It's about that it was going to be bad enough to matter, and what if it had been worse.
I'm arriving an hour late to this thread and have only read this far, Howlin. I notice a concerted effort of the leftist media of late to focus on the 'evidence' of the past year while totally ignoring the previous eight years.
I don't fault Bush for 9/11, but I tend to think that our FBI and CIA screwed the pooch and heads should roll.
These are my views.
