The dog should have been put down after the attack on the cat.

However, this is NOT the proper way to go about implementing that remedy.

Hrmm...perhaps setting Grier on fire would be an appropriate punishment? If not, it would still be fun to watch.

Too bad the burning dog didn't run under his house.

This boy and the 10-year old are evil, and their punishment should be to have lighter fluid doused on them and then lighted. However, to me, this is the scariest fact in the case.

Several children between the ages of 10 and 15 — including Grier's sister — watched the incident...

None of them tried to stop the act? Even a 4 or 5 year-old whose parents had bothered to teach him the difference between right and wrong would know that this was cruel and wrong.

A cat killing pit bull that will sit still to be soaked and set afire? Most unusual.

That all depends on where the dog was and where the cat was.

If the dog belonged to a neighbor and was chained up in the neighbors yard then it isn't the dogs fault if the cat wanders in and gets killed.

The family behind me has three cats and occasionally they venture into my backyard when my dog is out on her lead. She's never killed anything in the 7 years I've had her but I've seen her chase those cats and I politely let my neighbor (who I get along with very well) know that one day she may catch one of them. His comment "that'll be a hard lesson for the cat to learn but if it's stupid enough to get caught and killed it isn't your fault or your problem as far as I'm concerned."

I knew I liked the guy.

It's easy to say that when looking at it objectively, however, although I have no cats, if a pit bull brutally killed my loved pet, I could see myself doing something quite nasty to it.

Right.

It ruins the pelt.

Garfield man, 18

Funny. When a gun death is involved, an 18-year-old is a "child."

"This boy and the 10-year old are evil, and their punishment should be to have lighter fluid doused on them and then lighted".

Lets see, 10 year old sets fire to dog, so we set fire to 10 year old. Good Law and Order solution there. It seems to me that he committed and adult crime so he deserves and adult punishment. Therefore, he must be an adult, right?

A friend of Grier's who witnessed the incident will be eligible for the $2,500 reward that was offered

Give him MORE. He may have helped expose an evil killer. Kids like this shouldn't be loose in society.

You are correct, Willie. A cat eating pitbull should be marinated first, then ignited. Ask any self respecting dog eating Korean. Even a dog as usless as a pitbull has potential for spicy ribs or barbeque wings(legs to Americans).... "This was particularly horrible," Hecker said. "(Witnesses) said they doused the dog with lighter fluid and lit it. When it didn't burn, they doused it again until it ignited." Gee sounds like Federal Agents in Waco Texas ...
