Md. High Court Reveals Contact With Fourth Democratic Senator

Maryland's highest court yesterday revealed that a fourth Democratic senator contacted a judge about legislative redistricting, broadening a controversy over the political map that will define State House elections for the next decade. [SNIP] Yesterday, Chief Judge Robert M. Bell said he had "overlooked" yet another contact: a March 8 meeting with Senate Majority Leader Clarence W. Blount ([D] Baltimore).

Why is this news? The curruption in Maryland State politics is well known and par for the course.

Granted, a college town is always full of liberals. But I also substitute on a regular basis in the public schools (county, not city)and I have to endure signs hung in the hallway that say things like, "Congratulate, Don't Discriminate." This is NOT race related. They are talking about sexual orientation and homophobia--in the PUBLIC schools. Most of these students are not related to UVA. But they are going to VOTE in 2 or 3 years. If these kids are indeed representative of Virginia, look for the Congressional delegation to change decisively over the next decade.

By the way, I live in rural Nelson County, in a nice middle-class neighborhood. I am surrounded by hippies, and a COMMUNE is located about 3 miles down the road. Truly, Virginia is not as conservative as you would think.

Not to make too much of this, but the staff and students ideological orientation would certainly affect local schools, since a large proportion of the teachers are likely connected to the University, directly or indirectly, and the infection of this ideology would certainly not stop at the county line. If you can commute to Charlottesville, your hippie neighbors can too! Try living in Danville or Wytheville for a while, then reconsider your opinion.

I think we discovered back at the time of the 2000 election that there is 11th Circuit precedent for the proposition that vote dilution in an election for a state office where there are also federal officers being elected presents a federal 14th Amendment equal-protection issue for federal courts to decide. If that's so, I would think so would corruption in drawing the boundaries for districts for state offices in elections where federal officers (like U.S. House Representatives, as will be the case in Maryland in November,) are also elected.

Just another day in the life of the Socialists Republic Of Maryland. Just another plus for thinking about moving to VA or PA.

You simply have no idea how every damn day of our lives husband and I fret and moan about this godawful state.

And get this....HE'S from Massachusetts! This should be some indication about how bad it is here.

This Glendenning is an arrogant SOB who spent every dime collected from the few working in this state, including a 5,000 dog house for his new chickadee wife's dog.

Then the bunch of cowards go and put a 40 cent tax on cigarettes. A tax which only exploits the poor man those lying conniving pack of sniveling hounds of hell. And to show you how low down they are, they took a poll to see how people felt about taxing cigarettes. Which, puleez, EVERYONE'S against cigarettes! They then announce the result of this bogus poll as if this gives them all the righteousness in the world. A tax which is going to hit the major part of their very own constituentcy.

Only their constituency doesn't have a freaking clue.

To add to the endless angst of life in a liberal hell from which there may be no escape, coming up the rear we have KAthleen Kennedy Townsend, a woman with the IQ of a zuchinni. It's so bad, and I'm not making this up, that a whole bunch of BLACK democrats are throwing their support behind Erlich, something husband and I very much intend to do as well.

I wonder when the war on terror is over and there is peace and a new example of conservatism across this mighty nation, will someone be sure to send the army in here to rescue us stuck in the liberal swamp of the east coast.

Yes it was a decent place. But over 30 years you can see the visible signs of decline caused by rampant drug activity that the police could not or would not control. Where there is drug money on the level of Maryland's it reaches into the political offices of city and county government like water seeps into cracked roadbeds. It isn't long before everybody elected is corrupted.

Currently Maryland collects over $9 Billion (repeat BILLION) in revenues and that is still not enough to support the welfare, schools, corruption, and government payrolls of the state. They want more!

my feelings exactly, Fishtalk hopefully, at some point, the Dem voters will do a collective upchuck and at least begin to look at the GOP candidates As Clarence Mitchell (D) in Baltimore found out, being a black Democrat in Maryland only means you'll get used and ignored by the State Democratic Party. The State Democratic Party is more interested in making sure power brokers like Sen Mike Miller get their new waterfront mansion in their new district. That's what the proposed Dem redistricing does. Sen Mike Miller controls the judges' budget. He admits he called the judges on the pending redistricting case to "yell" at them. Then he has the audacity to say he wasn't trying to influence them. The mendacity is shameless, yet Dem voter after Dem voter keeps going merrily, blindly, along.

This really hurts! I have wonderful memories of following big green things around in the mud and soot at the lovely Aberdeen Proving Ground. Eating softshell crab for dinner. Visiting 100's of historic (mostly patriotic) sites.
