Very very rarely is any defendant shackled at a jury trial....something about being prejudical. I think that monster who killed Polly Klass was restrained....that was an exception.

You're right, wardaddy. Defendants are rarely shackled in front of a jury, and until he was convicted, he was still presumed innocent. Nowadays, they use stun belts, although it looks like this guy was supposed to be wearing one and wasn't.

And I don't want to think about the scum that killed Polly Klaas. But I will never forget what he said at sentencing. How Marc Klaas restrained himself is beyond me. I would not have been able to.

I agree....I think I would have killed that bastard myself. Knives mad from acrylic or pexiglass or hardened ceramic are virtually undetectable to metal detectors.

Remember the case in Baton Rouge on TV some years ago where the father of the victim (his 3 year old boy) shot the perp in the airport as they were bringing him back. Right in front of the deputies. He got off. A jury of his peers in Baton Rouge saw to it.
