I dunno, Landru. Everyone keeps assuming this guy is gonna get his. Let's hope so, since the sooner he gets his, the fewer deaths he'll cause. But I've seen so many good die young, and so many of the world's Adam Shapiros die in bed at a ripe old age, that optimism is a luxury.

"Everyone keeps assuming this guy is gonna get his. Let's hope so, since the sooner he gets his, the fewer deaths he'll cause."

Oh, he'll "get his," alright.
The upside here, I suppose, is that one can only die once.

"But I've seen so many good die young, and so many of the world's Adam Shapiros die in bed at a ripe old age, that optimism is a luxury."

Yes that's very true, indeed; the good do die young, while the evil just seem to go on & on & on.
Perhaps the evil one's punishment is to remain; can't say for sure.
But just think of the weight the evil old SOBs bear all the way into the grave, eh?

There's a price paid, alright; make no mistake about that.
In the end, the books will be reconciled & there's simply no escaping it.
Just look at your own words, here;

"As for the wife, she apparently labors under a delusion similar to that of her husband: that the Arabs are still going to respect her the morning after."

Arabs couldn't care less what God she or he prays to.
No...what the Arabs will see is that she's an Arab married to a Jew.
That'll make her a traitor of the first order in their eyes, I should think.

Y'know, Arabs are as racist as any other peoples; &, you may take that to the bank.
That fact my friend, is simple human nature, eh?

...but face it: does this Shapiro character know how to "Play the room" or what?
