With friends like Andrew ( "Ambassador" ) Young & Gary ( Senator ) Hart(-pence) authoring draconian 'laws', styled to SHRED the Constitution & use the Bill of Rights like toilet paper, who needs any enimies? These two dubious idiots were listed amoung the 4-6 'authors' of HOMELAND DEFENSE.

He has indeed begun an attack on freedom unparalleled since Lincolns mercenaries drove old Dixie down. Sigh...and this was in the first paragraph! At least the author discredits himself at the beginning of his rant, so one does not have to waste any time reading the rest.

Ah, Dixie, that great bastion of freedom.
Freedom is slavery.
Freedom is slavery.
Freedom is slavery.
</sarcasm>
No slave state could ever be truly free.

Thank you. Any attention is deeply appreciated, though some, like yours, may "draw flies".

Wow. This is an excellent article. Everything he says is pretty much what I've been thinking, and sometimes saying, ever since this began...in fact, since the very day of Sept 11th. Only this guys says it more eloquently and succinctly than I can...and still maintains a sense of humor throughout.
Well done.

It would be nice if we could have one day without the sewer backing up onto FreeRepublic.

Well, at least we now know that some of the propaganda is getting through to some of the people! You sound like government PR man!

Wow, you brainwashed anti-southern idiots are out early today.
Slavery existed in the northern states before during and AFTER the civil war.
Go get yourself some edumacation son, and quit making an arse out of yourself!

The War on Drugs is about as meaningful as the war on terror both are being "fought" for the same reason: to finish up the job of flushing our Constitutional Republic down the hopper. The flushing is finished and the lid is down.

Thanks for the ping, Shuckmaster. Good article. I especially like the credentials of the author. The Rhodesian Scouts did not put up with and tolerate left-wing, commie, PC scum or any propaganda double-speak.

Will we be attacked again by terrorists? Surprisingly, after all the unconstitutional laws that have been passed to "protect" us of late, the consensus among our leaders is that we have no way to stop such an attack. Good article. I esp. like this quote.

This article may contain some points with which many find fault. I did not write it, nor did I make comment on the point which seems to offend you-a small issue of Federal Troops under command of an executive branch seeking to
enforce a very questionable questionable power over the citizens of the Southern states.
Let's see, where were we?...An attack on freedom? So very many of my ancestors were offended by the Federal actions I can't imagine what to think-maybe they were justifiably angry at the government in Washington?
One of them ( a former commandant of West Point & veteran of the Mexican War ) declined Gen. Scott's offer of command of the Federal Army, resigned his commission, left San Antonio for home & assumed command of the Army of Virginia-he was true to his real home. Funny thing about this fellow-he had already freed his slaves! I think I might tend to defer to his decisions, since he was rather well educated, widely experienced & had inherited some particular views from his Revolutionary War parents. Many contemporary & modern scholars tend to agree.
Some other ancestors were residing in the path of Sherman's infamous 'March to the Sea'-their homes were invaded by troops, they lost all their livestock, some property, but by accident, not the homes.
Several ancestors from Texas traveled ( at great expense & inconvienience ) great distances to personally deliver their sentiments to the Federal troops. This state was not alone in suffering the most brutal & ignoble military occupation & denaial of civil rights at the hands of the Washington political scoundrels & the Federal troops.
What was the title of this piece?...An Attack on Freedom Itself? And you are troubled by what my ancestors did to Federal troops? It's just a shame that you were not around to set them straight! What a difference your fine insights might have made!! Perhaps you may meet some of them in a very hot place & have the chance to explain to them directly, where they went wrong? I defer to their decisions & actions. When my ancestors had determined that a problem existed & action was required, many of them payed their own money to mount & arm their own troops & led them directly to the source of the trouble. They certainly did not sit around making snide remarks.
The issue, sir, is FREEDOM, not the ability to launch petty, verbal asualts on your fellow countrymen!

Including the 13 original colonies and the five Union states allowed to continue slavery during the "Civl War"?
