It's interesting. I recall Russert saying his rule of thumb is to "take the other side" of whomever he is interviewing. I decided to watch the show today and see how well he does that. I have to say, he is really pummeling Daschle. He's doing a good job.

Agree...I forced myself to watch this, and I'm glad I did.
Daschle can't lie fast enough to keep up with Russert.

I have watched Russert for years and he does try to be somewhat evenhanded in his grilling. He did hit Tommy with some good follow-up questions. Sometimes though he tends to gush and show his liberal tendencies with certain guest, especially the Broders, Goodwins, the chattering class of the world. It would be very interesting to see Hillary on with him 1-on-1 as a presidental candidate someday (and not hiding behind Chuckie Schumer and the 9/11 tragedy). How would he handle her and what direction would he take (billing records? pardons? Bill's indiscretions, etc). I think it is actually important for freepers to watch MTP and other Sunday shows to keep an eye on the potential propaganda that comes out. As much as Sam and Cokie sometimes make me want to vomit, it can be instructive to hear the line of questioning and commentary as they lay the groundwork for the liberal spin. Hang in there.
