This just goes to show how
little we really know about the complex biological life all around us. This flies in the face of what is taught in biology and psychology classes today (or at least, when I had them in '97). Truly amazing...

a dynamic system fully capable of functional reorganisation Evidently conscious did not reside in the half of the brain that was removed. Or not entirely. That elusive consciousness, which lobe contains that?

Rush has had half of his brain tied behind his back for years.
If raised as a Democrat, maybe this little girl will end up being the Great Liberal Hope to break into talk radio.

The procedure was pioneered by a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins named Ben Carson. His autobiography, Gifted Hands is a wonderful testimony to rising above one's circumstances. His mother was/is truly an awesome individual, raising her kids in the ghetto to believe they could become more than gang bangers.

This is a very encouraging article. I have a 5 1/2 year old daughter with brain damage. I know she has amazed her doctors in that she can walk, run, ride a bike, and swim. Unfortunately, she still is having severe speech problems.
Hopefully, she'll figure out how to speak.

Surgeons at Utrecht University Hospital in Holland decided that the left hemisphere, which included the speech centre, had to be removed.
Well that explains it, we all know here that the left is useless and all the brains are on the right ;>

My best Thermodynamics student had a head on collision and suffered brain damage 3 weeks before the midterm exam. We gave him the midterm exam at the veterans hospital, tubes and all. He made it to the final exam looking like Frankenstein and passed the test. Earned an A-, the second highest grade in the class.
We don't need no stinking brains.

This is an inspiring story. My dad always told me that if I had half a brain I could do smart things too.
