That is correct. Chandra's remains was not near a jogging trail. It was on a higher, rocky, rough terrain.

But that's a long way to drag a body.

Breaking and entering.....now I stumped, I had him figured for a rapist only, since he didn't rob the first two victims(that we know of).....I would like to see his rap sheet also.
To: SarahW
No, it may have been higher than the trail, but it was in a ravine. Not according to AP Breaking News:
The remains of Levy, 24, of Modesto, Calif., were found by a man walking his dog Wednesday morning. They were located on a steep slope and identified later in the day using dental records.

To: Katie_Colic
Chandra would not have paged Condit over and over and over again that day and then left her apartment without her cell phone. And certainly not for an 8 mile run. She wouldn't have risked missing his call. The only plausible reason for her leaving her apartment without taking her phone with her is that she was planning on seeing him.
FINALLY. Some good, clear thinking. Most of what's being posted ignores all Chandra's and Condit's behavior prior to and after the disappearance. Most of it just looks at the park location and the predator's history. Once you factor in all the behavior of all the parties, it is very unlikely that Condit was not involved in her death.
To: SarahW
You may be right. I'm 100% certain that Condit's actions were wrong, and I'm 100% certain that his actions *point* to guilt. But yes, there's still part of me that realizes he may not have known what happened to Chandra but went into a tailspin of deceit to cover up his sex life. He wasn't just a congressman. He was a Democratic congressman in a conservative district who had to play the part of family man to stay electable. Perhaps he just couldn't see further than the sordid headlines in Modesto that could have appeared if he had told the truth.
???
I don't know. All I KNOW is that he hindered a police investigation with his tactics.

Imagine that entire crew living in the same house. Parents, kids, and grandkids too.
Their public support of their father is such a sign of disrespect for their mother.

LOL you are talking the D.C. Park Police here!!!!

More on the backpack. Competitive runners - don't call them joggers - will sometimes train with a backpack stuffed with rocks or whatever to weigh them down. Did Moongirl race or subscribe to any runner magazines? Since she was easily influenced or swayed she might have picked up the idea from some running article. Still, far fatched. Most people will not go out for a jog or run wearing a backpack or even a fanny pack. Moongirl was cruising to meet someone, carrying a sixpack of Trojans in the backpack, tampons or whatever, or she was going shopping or wild mushroom hunting (turtle hunting?) in the park.

Yep. A steep slope. Ramsey kept saying a sleep incline. So, how do you determine a decline as opposed to an inline? I mean one is going down and the other up, depending which side you are on when looking at it.
Wish we could get a better and closer look at the area in question.

Enter the disturbed mind of the sexually motivated murderer. Its all about putting fantasy into 3-d.
Incidentally, the disputes he had with both the known victims accounts and his assertion that he was after uh, their walkmans, that's the ticket, (the walkmans being a marker for easy prey) are typical disassociations of the sexually motivated attacker.)
Why does he go back to the same area? To relive the fantasy. He did it once, now he wants to do it again. This is an area scoured and scouted and he is familiar and comfortable. He knows the terrains and has selected good spots for leaping upon his prey. He can also count on the appearance of prey, and stalk them in the way he has worked out in his mind. He can pick out a target and wait till just the right moment. He has strategies worked out for striking, and what he will do when she is down.
It might not seem logical to a normal person but rapists work this way. THey go back to the same hunting grounds.
There is the thrill of getting away with it again, too. Rapists are angry, inadequate men who like to feel like they've put one over on the people who think they count.
If he hadn't let his guard down with his last victim, and managed to get caught, he would have tried again and in the same area.

one of the attacks was a 7pm....the other? Chandra disappeared middle of the day.....hard to beleive a predator would attack her and kill her in broad daylite....of course i've never seen the park....maybe the area is secluded enough with infrequent passerby's....who knows???? IF this guy did it....it's hard to believe that NOBODY in the DC police didn't say HEY!!?? maybe we should check the park......they finally did but only after the media forced them to....

I agree that sweatpants are comfortable. But if I was going to meet a guy I was crazy about or someone was going to pick me up in a car, I would not take my walkman (again, we don't know that it's hers).

Suicidals do not neatly pack their bags and set them by the front door in anticipation of flying home the next day... Suicidals don't do a lot of things rationally. The math points to suicide. First, there's more suicides than murders so right out the gate the odds are suicide. Second, the woman lost her lover. Third, the woman lost her job. Fourth, the woman was forced to return home to face family and friends as a failure. Fifth, she wasn't coping well, visiting the Holocaust Museum of all places. Sixth, she was not a jogger or hiker, she researched a secluded spot. I'm making a decision based on very limited information, but if this is all thats considered the logical conclusion is very clearly suicide. The math is so overwhelming that I'm willing to bet my money on it.

I have to vehemently disagree. There isn't anything to indicate that she was despondent, and her outlook was by all accounts optimistic.
Distracted, maybe. Which would make her easier prey.

"He didn't let them go. Far from it. He thought someone was coming and made his escape with the first known victim. The second one managed to get away. He didn't "let" her get away, he thought he had her subdued and was mistaken."
I didn't realize you had been there to observe both incidents. Thanks for your information.
To: mass55th
I gues you didn't read the victims accounts. Or you dismissed them.
