No. The point is that the church stood its ground on a moral issue, and the mother of this child chose not to follow. The church was not being unkind, or uncompassionate. They are required by God to try to live the way He demands. If they had compromised, they would have done more damage than good. This mother needed to see that some people take what God says seriously, and will not bend beliefs to suit what is expedient or convenient (i.e., mom making a fast buck performing lewd dances for strangers).
