Senate debates NATO expansion, giving security help to seven countries

WASHINGTON (AP) With the support of the Bush administration, lawmakers appeared ready to approve legislation that endorses expanding NATO.

The bill, which the Senate is scheduled to vote on Friday, would give $55.5 million in security assistance to seven countries that hope to join the military alliance.
