2dThoughts (excerpt)
Garnet Valley Press | 5-15-02 | William W. Lawrence

Posted on 05/14/2002 5:11:30 AM PDT by Temple Owl

The Philadelphia Inquirer ran a long, dull-witted editorial on Sunday in which it endorsed Ed Rendell for Governor.

The editorial opened with, "Dog bites man. Yankees win. Sun rises in east.

"Ed Rendell's hometown newspaper endorses him.

"Ho -hum. Just a bunch a of equally predictable events, right."

Yes! The Inquirer's editorial board finally got something right!

But those buffoons did not endorse Rendell because of the lost list that followed. They endorsed him for the same reason they endorsed a lying pervert for president--twice.

Rendell is a left-wing liberal. The Inquirer would endorse Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, or even Osama Bin Laden if any of these subhumans ran for office as a left-wing liberal. It is obvious the Inquirer would prefer Fidel Castro to George W. Bush.

Rendell does have some things in common with our former national role model. While mayor he tried to put the make on a female reporter for Philadelphia magazine. And this pride of Philadelphia once offered a financial reward to a spectator at an Eagles game if he hit Santa Claus with an icy snowball.

Yeah! Rendell is just what Pennsylvania needs. The decision-makers at 400 n. Broad St. have no idea why their circulation is in free-fall.

Trust me when I tell you "Dog bites man. Yankees win. Sun rises in east.

"Ed Rendell's hometown newspaper will endorse him over Mike Fisher, the far more qualified person to lead Pennsylvania, in November.

The Garnet Valley Press is one of several "Press" weekly community newspapers which covers Delaware County (suburban Philadelphia). The Inquirer is a favorite target of William W. Lawrence.

The Philadelphia Inquirer circulation has fallen to 381,104, a drop of 3 percent in the last six months. The ciruclation has pretty much fallen bi-annually since the mid-80s.

It is the 17th largest paper in the country and it's basically the only metropolitan paper in the country's 4th largest metro area.

I wouldn't be surprised is Casey wins.

Good post.
I happen to travel to Philly from Harrisburg Sunday. Before I left I glanced at the Patriot News front page and the lead story was big on Rendell and Casey. In Philly, I glanced at the front page of their rag of a newspaper. Nope, I couldn't find a front page article about either.

Guess they don't want to let everyone know that these two are setting up a win for Fisher.

Personally, I say “Go Rendell”. Despite the super-secret low profile Fisher’s been maintaining, the words Rendell and Philadelphia will be enough to have every resident of Monroe, Indiana, Luzerne and Carbon Counties, etc. lined up to pull the Republican Lever (“Alright, which one of these is fer the fella runnin’ against the Jew from Philadelphia?”).

The greatest worry for me is that Casey will win the nomination, a great many of the undecided (indifferent) will not show up and the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee will have a +100% turn out in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, enough to burry Fisher.

I'm rooting for Casey. if Rendell gets clobbered it might very well might cause a revolution in how Dems pick their candidates. A lot of Dem elected pols in Delaware County are endorsing Casey over the wishes of party leaders.

Regardless of who wins, I'm voting for Fisher in November.

You are right on target. Rendell would be much easier to beat than Casey. But Rendell just makes me sick. I have had enough of perverts being elected to public office.

Partisanship aside, I do think a Rendell vs Fisher campaign will be a lot more exciting than Casey/ Fisher.

You must have been talking to my buddy who works for the Democratic Caucus...
