I guess they could give you a ticket for every second you are speeding. At $100 a ticket, that would come to $360,000 for an hour of speeding.

Twice in one minute? Sounds like double jeopardy to me. . . . There oughtabe a law. :-|

I was going 60mph in a 40mph zone the other day. But I was only out for half an hour so my effective speed was just 30mph.

That's good.

...was given three penalty points... Penalty points? Is that like getting demerits?

Penalty points? Is that like getting demerits? Is there no points system in Louisiana? Here in Ohio, you get two points for minor speeding, etc. A DUI is six points. When you get to twelve, you lose your license. The two point violations drop off your record in two years.

We can accrue them in CT ... yes, they're like demerits ... but get a few too many and it's worse than staying after school! LOL &;-)

35mph in a 30mph
That's just scary, and well within the margin of error of radar, I think. It looks like speeding tickets are well on the way to being the next govt. revenue windfall. Guess too many people stopped smoking.

Unfortunately those accustomed to driving home up this street kept forgetting about the new stop signs.Forgetting? Aren't they painted red and have 'STOP' written on them?

35mph in a 30mph zoneWell, this is national news all right.

Speed cameras have caught a driver SS Get ready, the stop light camers will be equipped with speed detection devices!
BTW I believe the article is from England. ( The idea proving ground for socialists!)
To: self_evident
I'm all for raising the speed limits and mandatory Skip Barber Driving School sessions for everyone! LOL &;-)

This story coulda been about me!
To: Constitution Day
Chris Dutton was clocked doing 35mph in a 30mph zoneThey give tickets for this? I thought the real speed limit in a 30 mph zone was 50-55!! Except through school zones and then I do slow to 45
To: billbears
Surprising, isn't it.
When I first went to get my learner's permit, I failed because I was going about 39 in a 35... that b!tch !

It looks like speeding tickets are well on the way to being the next govt. revenue windfall. "Well on their way?" LOL! In some places, ticket revenue enhancement is the law of the land. I wonder if citizens could bankrupt their local governments by obeying traffic laws for a month ... but then again these are the very people who voted for those folks in the first place, so they wouldn't want to bankrupt them even if they could.

Not to mention revenue from the new seatbelt laws. Of course we need the government to protect us from ourselves.
