Speed cameras have caught a driver speeding twice on the same road within a minute.
Chris Dutton was clocked doing 35mph in a 30mph zone on Blackpool's Preston New Road.
He then turned around at a garage and was caught doing the same speed again in his Vauxhall Nova.
The 20-year-old has received two separate letters and was given three penalty points and a £60 fine.
He claims he was victimised because of the car he drives. Police say he's broken the law so he won't get any sympathy.
Mr Dutton of South Strand, Rossall told the Blackpool Gazette: "I think the police must have thought I was some sort of boy racer. I think it's a bit off that they caught me twice in just under a minute."
Ian Bell of the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety said: "We have had a number of cases where people have been caught twice in the space of a few hours, but I think this is the first within a minute. He clearly has gone through two cameras as we do operate mobile cameras near to the static ones. This case is rare but again it is feasible and he has broken the law, so therefore he will get little sympathy."
Darth, didn't you do a wonderful one-man FReep on this issue? &;-)
Penalty points? Is that like getting demerits?
Is there no points system in Louisiana? Here in Ohio, you get two points for minor speeding, etc. A DUI is six points. When you get to twelve, you lose your license. The two point violations drop off your record in two years.
Forgetting? Aren't they painted red and have 'STOP' written on them?
Well, this is national news all right.
SS Get ready, the stop light camers will be equipped with speed detection devices!
BTW I believe the article is from England. ( The idea proving ground for socialists!)
They give tickets for this? I thought the real speed limit in a 30 mph zone was 50-55!! Except through school zones and then I do slow to 45
When I first went to get my learner's permit, I failed because I was going about 39 in a 35... that b!tch !
"Well on their way?" LOL! In some places, ticket revenue enhancement is the law of the land. I wonder if citizens could bankrupt their local governments by obeying traffic laws for a month ... but then again these are the very people who voted for those folks in the first place, so they wouldn't want to bankrupt them even if they could.
