I am having a discussion with a liberal fellow on another site and challenged him to name 10 clearly distinct differences between the message of the current democratic party and the early days of such historical figures as Stalin, Lenin, Hitler and Mao.

TOPICS: Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS: liberaldogma
These are the 10 answers that he gave. I can knock 4 or 5 out right away with the nazi party platform of 1920. Unfortunately, I must work for a living and don't have a lot of time for research and need a bit of help with the rest. I am asking for help in this forum because...face it, the greatest minds in the world are here.

1) We don't believe in killing people.

2) We believe in democracy

3) We believe in international institutions and international law.

4) We believe in universal human rights

5) We believe in protecting the environment from heavy industry.

6) We believe in free market capitalism, but with regulations.

7) We don't believe that there is any good in Imperialism

8) We don't believe that revolution is neccessary for progress.

9) We believe in individual liberties.

10) We believe that the international community should step in to stop genocidal dictators.

Like I said, the challenge was to list 10 clear differences between the EARLY days (before the killing started) of the great tyrants and the message that the dems are preaching today.

Any help in putting the lie to these answers or comparisons to the early messages of Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, or Mao would be appreciated. Also, any links to useful info to shorten my research time would also be appreciated.

Thanks Guys....and Gals.

We ask that the government undertake the obligation above all of providing citizens with adequate opportunity for employment and earning a living. The activities of the individual must not be allowed to clash with the interests of the community, but must take place within its confines and be for the good of all. Therefore, we demand: ... an end to the power of the financial interests. We demand profit sharing in big business. We demand a broad extension of care for the aged. We demand ... the greatest possible consideration of small business in the purchases of national, state, and municipal governments. In order to make possible to every capable and industrious [citizen] the attainment of higher education and thus the achievement of a post of leadership, the government must provide an all-around enlargement of our entire system of public education ... We demand the education at government expense of gifted children of poor parents ... The government must undertake the improvement of public health - by protecting mother and child, by prohibiting child labor ... by the greatest possible support for all clubs concerned with the physical education of youth. We combat the ... materialistic spirit within and without us, and are convinced that a permanent recovery of our people can only proceed from within on the foundation of the common good before the individual good.

-- from the political program of the Nazi Party, adopted in Munich, on February 24, 1920, quoted in Die Nationalsozialistische Dokumente 1933-1945, edited by Walther Hofer, Frankfurt am Mein: Fischer Bucherei, 1957, pp. 29-31.

It is thus necessary that the individual should finally come to realize that his own ego is of no importance in comparison with the existence of his nation; that the position of the individual ego is conditioned solely by the interests of the nation as a whole...that above all the unity of a nation's spirit and will are worth far more than the freedom of the spirit and will of an individual....This state of mind, which subordinates the interests of the ego to the conservation of the community, is really the first premise for every truly human culture....The basic attitude form which such activity arises, we call -- to distinguish it from egoism and selfishness -- idealism. By this we understand only the individual's capacity to make sacrifices for the community, for his fellow men.

(Adolf Hitler speaking at Bueckeburg, Oct. 7, 1933; The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, 1922-39

A little old, but still shows the point very well.

So this fool thinks that Nazis or the Commies stated that they "believe in killing people"? Heck, he might have saved himself thinking and writing and said "we believe that bad things are wrong"! I'm not sure if it is worth anyone's time and effort to challenge and debate such shallow thinking if thinking it is. It would rather be an educational effort, I think.

Your first mistake was letting them pick the ten topics for debate. They can pick the subjects, no matter how absurd, and unless you 'prove' it to them, then you'll fail.

But some similarities:

Hitler originally gained power by turning the working classes and academic elite against the upper levels of society. When he achived some political stability, his Nazi party (National Socialists, contrary to what the left in America want you to believe) became darlings of the press. Something to remember the next time you hear the top 4 percent of America paying 50 percent of the taxes, and who is calling a flat tax a "tax break for the wealthy".

Hitler and the Nazi's, when gaining power, called for the registration of every German citizens firearms. If you did not comply, you were arrested. Later, when the Gestapo gained more power, executions could be done. Remember that the next time you hear about the "gun show loophole" and whos been pushing for banning handguns in America.

Hitler knew a defenseless population was one that couldn't defend itself. Using the fire of the Reichstag (sp?) as a catalyst, he then took those registrations and started confiscation to "protect" the German people. Where have we heard that before?

Hitler had the German schools start to re-write history in order to make it more 'suitable' to his visions. Who's pushing political correctness in this country? How many children in todays government screwls are being fed lies or not being told about historic events because it might "offend" some small group of people someplace?

Hitler created the Hitler Youth, who were taught it was a good thing to turn in your parents who did "anti-Nazi" things, and rewarded them. Wasn't it just a few weeks ago a Judge (not sure if local or Federal) prohibited a mother from visitation rights to her child because she smoked and the child complained? Who's been the party pushing for that agenda of 'evil smokers' amongst other things?

Christians were condemed as "right wing fanatics" by Hitler and the Nazi's. Pagan animism became the official government religion.

Unmarried women were given cash compensation to have children out of wedlock. Later, medals were issued.

Books found to be 'offensive' to Hitler and the Nazi's were removed, and later burned in public burnings.

Those found to be geneticly 'unpure' (mental, etc..) were killed by the Nazi's. Now we're seeing lawsuits being filed by representatives of such children in America against their parents and the doctors for allowing them to be born. If they win (haven't seen a final verdict yet), it will encourage abortions of "unpure" genetic children.
