	Student wants teacher to call him by name a 28 News report 5/13/02 NEW TAMPA - A Wharton High School student is filing a formal complaint against one of his teachers for not using his name. Jihad Saleh mailed the letter in last week. His name, Jihad, means "holy war," and Saleh claims his physical sciences teacher, June Fortson, refused to call him Jihad, instead using only his last name and every other student's first name. "I asked her why she didn't call me by my first name and she said because I think it's a religious name and I don't like it plus my son is up there right now," explained Jihad. Saleh changed classes at Wharton after spring break to avoid being singled out. Fortson says she used only his last name so he wouldn't be picked on.

I'm not going to state my name, but I had teachers who called all students by their last names, but always called me by my first name. (I have a long and hard to pronounce last name). If this teacher was smart, he'd go last name only. Personally, this kid is an idiot who's probably gonna be a getting a whooping from his classmates.
