Born to run? Doug Friedline, the political consultant who ran Jesse Ventura's independent campaign for Governor of Minnesota four years ago, will hold a statehouse news conference to launch a campaign to Draft Bruce Springsteen for U.S. Senate. Friedline's client is a new think tank, Independence for New Jersey.

I could believe Pat DiNizio's run in 2000 (formerly of The Smithereens) . . . but this is just too much. What's next, Bon Anchovi for VP?

He's been washed up musically for quite a few years now...I guess he's gotta' do something to keep his ego satiated.

What's next?

"It's a great pleasure and a high honor to welcome my good friend to the Senate...I'm talkin' 'bout the king of the world...the masta of disasta...a politician who actually knows how to play the sax the way it was meant to be played...the Honorable Big Man, the Senator from Virginia, Mr. Clarence Clemons...."

He's so liberal, he makes Corzine look like a conservative.

While I have enjoyed his early music........a "left-wing populist" seems apt here. I wouldn't vote for him.

The comedian Robert Wuhl did a routine about some politician in the State of New Jersey wanting to make Sprinsteen's "Born to Run" the state song. Wuhl played bits of the song to highlight the lyrics:

In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway 9,

Chrome wheeled, fuel injected
and steppin' out over the line
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young

`Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run

Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend
I want to guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims
and strap your hands across my engines
Together we could break this trap
We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back
Will you walk with me out on the wire
`Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider
But I gotta find out how it feels
I want to know if love is wild
girl I want to know if love is real

Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard
The girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors
And the boys try to look so hard
The amusement park rises bold and stark
Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
I wanna die with you Wendy on the streets tonight
In an everlasting kiss

The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
Everybody's out on the run tonight
but there's no place left to hide
Together Wendy we'll live with the sadness
I'll love you with all the madness in my soul
Someday girl I don't know when
we're gonna get to that place
Where we really want to go
and we'll walk in the sun
But till then tramps like us
baby we were born to run

This is actually a smart move for the Dems. It would split the anti-Torricelli protest vote and make it more difficult for a Republican to get elected.

Doug Friedline has a little too much time on his hands.
Springsteen is left of Che.
Who's he gonna run next?

Southside Johnny?

Eddie Wilson? (Eddie Lives!)

Bruce for Senate? I'm sure President Martin Sheen will heartily endorse him. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

(We have to seriously consider giving Hollywood nation status, so these numb-nuts won't have to subject the rest of us to their grandiose inclinations...)
