Yes ... I remember that incident. Laura went home in tears because of how they treated her. I was really surprised at Caroline - Hillary doesn't surprise me, but I really thought Caroline had a better upbrining than that.

The fact that Kristol is frequently invited on NPR to be the token "conservative" speaks volumes.

Well, after the Sunday that Cheney was on all the shows, right after he was named as the VP nominee, (and a classic thread that was, by the way, complete with the exploding Bob Shrum graphic ...hehehe), it is hard to have an exciting line-up.

HOWEVER, I learned a couple of very interesting things today from this thread, and I think you provide a valuable service. Thanks so much!

Don't kid yourself.

Look who Jackie lassoed after Jack was killed; that was SO no-character.

After all, billions count, I suppose.

Today's lineup was terrible!!!!

Who were they gonna get? It looks like Bush's approach is making headway toward getting some quiet in the Middle East (Abdulah, Sharon, etc. are all cautiously optimistic). The Dems can't go on in case he succeeds; and the GOP can't go on in case he fails.
And they can't talk about bills coming through Congress, because the Dems are stalling everything except the really big pork, and Bush just might sign even more of those.

Maybe ol' Steph isn't as stupid as he looked covering Carter as the big story of the week! :-)

Well, you would think Republicans would get a clue from that, but alas, they do not seem to understand that he is not on our side.

Besides the two incidents mentioned in this thread (Jeffords and Quayle/Murphy Brown) I want to point people to Dan Quayle's book, Standing Firm, where we find out that James Baker would not allow Kristol to sit in on the campaign strategy meetings in 92, because Baker said he didn't want any leaks to the press. Quayle says that this was REALLY because "Baker was intimidated by Kristol's intellect and leadership." HAR! I am certain that this is what Kristol told Quayle, but I think Baker (the man who dealt with Sadam Hussein and the Florida Recount) was not intimidated at all, but was spot on with his assessment.

I also found out in a book about Presidient Bush the elder that Sunnunu did NOT trust Kristol and wouldn't hire him for the White House. Kristol managed to weasel his way onto Quayle's staff, and eventually became his chief of staff. Kristol was not trusted by the White House at all.

I also found out that while advising Quayle he pushed a position that Quayle took, criticizing the Bush administration's dealings with the Kurds, and had Quauyle make a speech about it, RIGHT BEFORE THE CAMPAIGN, which of course embarassed the president.

I pay very close attention to this guy, because he is always pushing divisive and destructive policies for the Republicans. Who can forget the budget showdown of 96, which we all thought sounded like a good policiy at the time...but in fact was quite destructive to the Republicans, and wound up keeping Clinton in office? Guess who was one of the architects of that? KRISTOL. And let's not forget his efforts to destroy the President's efforts to get the China Spy plane home. AND his pushing for a huge ground war in Afghanistan.

He is a mole, and should be shunned by all conservatives. He does NOT have our interests at heart!

I didn't see the word McCAIN anywhere in your response. You should continue your post with Kristol's activities in support of everything McCain and against President Bush before and after the primaries in 2000. As you said, the man does not have our interests at heart, and I would hope that FOX news is not intending for him to become a regular on the show. If he does become a regular, Brit will REALLY have his hands full: Two libs and one pseudo-conservative.

Thanks Gretchen (not an Electrical Engineer),

When CKS went to extreme lengths to discredit, embarrass, and ignore Laura Bush, she showed herself as someone who, if given power by the electorate (God forbid!), would not be a good steward of the well-being of the people.

The bible says "Your sin will find you out." I guess people who are THAT petty as her-- to snub someone as gracious as Laura Bush --are found out as well.
