"He railed, "[I]f New York City had Arizona`s gun laws, Times Square would look like the OK Corral."

I've been to the OK Corral, and, that if Times Square was more like the OK Corral, it would be an improvement.

"He railed, "[I]f New York City had Arizona`s gun laws, Times Square would look like the OK Corral." Schumer seems to forget that Arizona, with firearm laws that are far less restrictive than those of New York City, has much less violent crime. Is the New York senator asserting that his constituents are not as responsible or law-abiding as the citizens of Arizona?" (NRA)

Schumer is de facto admitting that. In fact, NYC's main crime problem has zilch to do with guns - but derives from a dysfunctional minority subculture. This fact is readily apparent from every other social problem being very-disproportionately ghettoized to non-Cuban Hispanics and (particularly) blacks - so much so that AIDS went from being a "gay disease" to being a mainly "black doper disease" in well under one generation. Similar observations can be made about illegitimacy, VD other than AIDS, wifebeating, and school-dropout rates - none of which involve guns. Schumer's NYC's main problem is that it is a nonwhite city - which has made it one of the few AIDS hotspots of the U.S., too.

It is time to tell the truth! Anytime some middle-class or rich ditzbrain argues about gun risks with you, ask him when was the last time anyone on his street was shot. Because - if he lives on a typical middle-class street, particularly in a nonminority neighborhood - nobody ever has been. This education of the middle class about the real level of risk to them of guns is what the antigun lobby fears most.

Scandals of antigun politicians - from coast to coast
