Eggleston fired from sheriff's office-Eggleston-Foley race is a top priority this year.

.Capt. Ken Eggleston, who is running for Congress against Republican Mark Foley, was fired today by Sheriff Ed Bieluch.

Bieluch had put Eggleston on paid leave and ordered an investigation into whether Eggleston campaigned while on duty and in uniform. Eggleston was confined to his home during working hours while internal affairs officers investigated.

Bieluch said Eggleston campaigned in uniform in St. Lucie County recently in an appearance with the St. Lucie Cou nty Sheriff, Ken Mascara. Eggleston has accused Bieluch of making a secret deal with Foley to keep Eggleston out of the political race.

Today, Bieluch announced that the investigation concluded that "the most egregious of the sustained violations revealed that Captain Eggleston was involved in promting his own political campaign while on duty, in uniform and receiving a salary paid by citizens' tax dollars."

Both men are Democrats. Democrats in Washington have said the Eggleston-Foley race is a top priority this year.

Foley is my rep and he does a pretty good job considering his area actually went big for klintoon. Very liberal but he manages to tenderly walk a tightrope placating both sides. No real stands that are dramatic. Still he is better then anything the dims will run against him. I'll vote for him and help him is I can.

Foley is a lot better than the Wexler, Hastings etc. I have Carol"I'll go to Jail" Roberts running against Cris Shay in my district.Eggleston was wrong using Sherrif car in uniforn traveling all over state on taxpayers time.

I don't understand how anyone could vote for that dummy Wexler. What a punk. What a grandstander. What a puke. That guy is so insecere pandering to special interests he is sickening. Foley is at least a reasonable guy.

You are right about Wexler. Eggleston made a big fuss yesterday ,so they had to put his termination notice on his gate. Foley is ahead and should win.

I can't imagine Carol Robert winning, with her big stupid mouth it would be another Maxine Walter.
