I'm not sure wearing a symbol of gay pride on a college campus these days would really cause any discrimination. To get a more realistic feeling of what discrimination is like, maybe he should have worn a Bush/Chaney button, or a badge that said I love America.

From the
locked thread:
If that were true, he could simply have been given an assignment to walk around for two days wearing a "choose life" button. (in order to experience discrimination)
Nice one.

They have taken over our educational system and are just using their power to destroy the lives of anyone that opposes their agenda. This is not education, this is brainwashing.

My wife is a pinko, liberal, clinton-loving, democrat, public school teacher and even she wouldn't let our daughter attend a public school. What does that tell you?

Sounds a lot like a post-facto excuse. If that were true, he could simply have been given an assignment to walk around for two days wearing a "choose life" button.
Or a WWJD t-shirt with matching cross. The kid would probably be in a casket by now.

Ian said that he doesn't think things would have been resolved had NewsChannel5 not gotten involved."So this teacher had such courage in her convictions, that she backed down when it was made public? And extended an apology, to boot? (I can imagine how half-hearted that apology was.)
Here is an instance where the media did a fine job, but it is too bad that this student had to resort to them for help. I'm glad he did, and I hope that school is inundated with Freepicisms.

I would have worn a pink triangle to meet the requirements of the assignment and written the paper.
Of course, my triangle would have measured exactly 1 millimeter on a side. Then if the teacher b!tches...take the F.
To: NativeNewYorker
When NewsChannel5 spoke with Ian later in the day, his teacher had given him an apology note that read, in part, that the requirement was waived. Well, this was big of her.
Abuse of authority and violation of civil rights under the guise of academics?
Supposing the assignment had been a clumsily disguised compulsory endorsement of other pathologies?
Cannibalism?
Sadism?
Infanticide?
I think nothing short of a court order prohibiting this practice is absolutely necessary.
(Personally, I would fire this "professor". She is not qualified to teach anything.)
To: NativeNewYorker
This boy is bright enough to know the apology was, most likely, not sincere. IMO, the teacher was instructed to apologize so as to avoid the school getting bad press. The teacher needs to get some sensitivity training.

Maybe they should have an alternative class where Arab students are told to wear the Star of David around all day.
To: NativeNewYorker
Fire the teacher. This is nothing but hazing. There is no educational value in this, only the sick impulse of a petty tyrant to abuse his position.

Another fine example of OUR HIGHER EDUCATIONS SYSTEM A WORK DESTROYING OUR MORALS AND YOUTH IN AMERICA".... God help us!!! Sounds like Hate speech to me... support homosexual deviate behavior or fail! I'm very happy that at least one youth had the guts to stand up and say NO!!!

What if a class assignment forced you to choose between getting a passing grade or following your moral values? A class at Lakeland Community College was told to wear a pink triangle for the day to symbolize gay pride..."
I'd tell them where to stick the assignment - no doubt the instructors would be intimately familiar that.
Then I would wear a Think...Outside the Triangle tee shirt to class.

No, no, NO, Professor! You want the HATE CRIMES class, not the CRIMINAL JUSTICE class. :-(

I wrote this school a letter of complaint.
One, Nora Hopfensperger whose email address is Nora_Hopfensperger@lakeland.cc.oh.us replied:
"Unfortunately the facts were misrepresented in this story but we appreciate your feedback nonetheless."
To which I responded that I seriously doubted that the facts were being misrepresented. Instead, it sounded as if she and her cohorts were trying to lie their way out of this.
