Yes, good night. Quite by coincidence, I happen to be listening to the first number of Schubert's
Winterreise, "Gute Nacht," as sung by Peter Anders in 1945. He and his pianist-producer, Michael Raucheisen, made the recording in March 1945 in bombed-out Berlin. I had thought Fischer-Dieskau doing
Winterreise was good, but Anders is something else.
Out of suffering can come beauty.
I hope so. His death must not be in vain. We in the Netherlands must keep his dream alive. I know we have to go on without him, towards to direction he pointed.
