Well, its all well and good he's running here;it's a free country. But seems like the arab countries could use his electoral platform more than us.

I can't put my finger on what it is, but I just don't trust these men with women's rights issues long term. How long before they're calling for the wearing of the Burqa or Chador and implementation of Sharia?

Perhaps, but he's a US citizen and therefore one of us, not one of them.
The incumbent is Marge Roukema. Isn't she somewhat of a RINO?
One of the other Arabs in Congress is Dan Issa, a Republican from California (and a target of an alleged bomb plot by Irv Rubin of the JDL). Arabs and non-black Moslems seem to lean strongly Republican, we're idiots if we excoriate them for what wacko radical terrorists or nations do.

Can he really take his oath of office and mean it? And what about separation of his church and our state?

I see nothing in this article mentioning his position on Islamic terrorists that attacked America and the war on terrorism. What he doesn't say speak volumes.

Yosri is running in a district where 91% of the constituents are affluent white AmericansAnd predominantly Democrat.
Unfortunately I'm so ignorant and racist I'll never believe or trust a Muslim, regardless of what they say. As far as I'm concerned they are all active or passive members of the fifth column.

"make the cost of higher education tax-deductible and to extend health coverage for women - as well as to reform Medicare so that senior citizens would have their prescription costs covered. "Sounds like a Democrat. Although its hard to tell the Republicans from the Democrats these days with touchy feely "W" in office

His biggest hurdle is that Americans don't like to vote for someone with a name they can't pronounce.

I didn't realize there were 6 Congressmen of Arab descent. I remember Spencer Abraham was a disaster when it came to immigration, and he was a Republican.
There is a difference between Arab and Muslim, though. I'm not sure what exactly "moderate Republican" is supposed to mean.

As a lawmaker will the law this moslem supports be consistent with the Constitution of a free people or will it be consistent with sharia law that all moslems swear to abide by and to submit ?
Was it one week or was it two weeks after Kandahar, Afghanistan was liberated that, islamic sharia courts resumed the sentencing of raped women to be stoned to death ?

"And, frankly, I see my ethnicity and faith as an asset because as an immigrant, I am uniquely qualified and would be uniquely credible in communicating the beauty of America to the rest of the world, particularly the Middle East," he asserted. I think they forgot the humor tag in this part of the story.
No way this guy is gonna win. Not in a post Sept. 11th United States he ain't.

From "The Inside Edge", April 8, 2002:
The race for the Republican nomination for Congress in the fifth district took an unexpected turn on Thursday when Assemblyman DAVID RUSSO won a stunning victory tonight at the Bergen County Republican Convention, defeating State Senator GERALD CARDINALE by ten votes for the GOP organization line, 271-261. Assemblyman SCOTT GARRETT finished third with 27 votes. College professor AKRAM YOSRI received 3 votes, with no votes for financial analyst RICHARD PETERSON or BRIAN FOX.

I would love to see his donor list. If this clown ever gets in he'll be rolling in Islamic moolah and will never lose to a challenger.

'socially pragmatic policies that are ideologically compatible with the district'
It's all in the meaning of words isn't it. What is the ideology of his district?
Why doesn't someone ask ole Arafat if he thinks ONE SINGLE person in Israel is a "Civilian" What do you want to bet, he considers EVERY person in Israel a combatant. The media is STUPID.

Republican or not, the people of NJ must keep this man out of congress!!!! Get all the Arabs out of this country. I'm sorry, I know that's politically incorrect but you know what, I don't care anymore if I upset someone with FREE SPEECH. Get them all out now. Tell the INS to do its job. Tell bumbling, stumbling, bush to DO HIS JOB and stop pampering the illegals and the towel heads. I'm sick of bush's lack of guts to let the Israeli's kick butt and take names.
From one proud Vietnam Vet who weeps for his country.
