Police arrested a suspect, a white male Dutch citizen, close to the scene of the 6 p.m. shooting in Hilversum, 10 miles south of Amsterdam. The shaven-headed Mr. Fortuyn, 53, sustained numerous gunshot wounds to the head, chest and neck as he emerged from a radio studio and approached his car.

Why is it that the left so vilifies the right when it expresses opposition to immigration? It appears to be because ethnic minorities who tend to be more impoverished than longtime residents of a country tend to form the base for socialist and other far-left parties and therefore provide a rationale to label all who favor common-sense limitations on immigration as some kind of "extremists"

Your point is well taken, but there's another rationale (besides the ideological "diversity is our strength" myth) for uncontrolled immigration from Third World countries into Europe that I see constantly cited, and that is that, as the populations of Europe (i.e., the original Europeans, ethnic Europeans, white people, whatever term is politically correct these days) fail to reproduce at replacement levels, and as the demographic contour of their societies shifts to a more and more elderly profile, high levels of immigration are purportedly "necessary" to maintain economic growth, a labor pool, and a tax base to ensure continuation of the colossally expensive welfare states Western European nations have. (We're starting to see the same arguments here in defense of uncontrolled immigration, by the way).

It boils down to yet another version of "It's the Economy, Stupid."

I thought conservatives were opposed to practicing homosexuals???

Unlike liberals, conservatives are capable of seperating the messenger from the message.

Whats more, and also unlike liberals, conservatives appear to be more likely to live & let live individuals who have habits or ideas which differ from their own.

Check out www.Antiwar.com

They name the gunman as a vegan with extremist views

: the murderer is Volkert van der Graaf, a 32-year-old environmentalist

It's a story they are working on and the full story will be out this evening at 10pm.

May 15 will go on. Then the left will hopefuly be crushed. I hope the leftist will be held responsible for inciting murder.

The left always killed political opponents, just ask people in Prague or former East-Germany.

It is time for the world to see that democracy, freedom of speech and the left are not compatible.

I will still vote for Fortuyn! No one will take that away from me.

IN MEMORIAM
PIM FORTUYN
1948 - 2002

For a better tomorrow!

Glad to hear that knighthawk. The leftists have failed to destroy the right and have greatly strengthened them. There is hope for Europe yet, eh? I hope you keep us updated on the elections and news leading up to them.

Listen madge, you and I have had some differences, especially before, BUT, immigration problems trump the gay agenda. You know it and I know it. Muslim fundamentalists and all these illegal welfare sucking immigrants who bring their grandmothers in to get our tax money...well you need to tell your gay brothers and sisters they need to vote FOR Simon in California. The republican party is the only that's going to deal with the issue, shrub notwithstanding.

As a conservative Christian, I oppose homosexuality. But that doesn't mean that I applaud the murder of this person. Homosexuality is a sin against G-d, not against me. I really could care less myself, but since G-d dislikes it, then what can I say? And for all you atheist conservatives, who think all this religion stuff is BS, you don't have a clue, so don't talk down to us. You don't know, (you couldn't possibly NOT believe in JC, and KNOW), and unlike the ultraleft, hopefully you know when to shut up when you're totally ignorant about a topic.

I don't agree that all the hoopola against the right in Europe "made" this person kill him. Watch out, or the left will accuse the right of that next time some "right-wing" fruit murders a lefty. The conservative movement, counted as dead in the mid-90s, is back on the march, mostly due to terrorism and immigration. (Not the logical-based reasons I would choose, but I'll take it). As for the unfortunate soul above who thinks PJB has a solution for immigration, you are completely mistaken. We should have efforced our borders and immigration laws 10, 20, 30 years ago, for now it is almost too late. The current answer, of course, is to immediately halt all immigration and visas, but do you think this will happen? No way, as the leftist media and their allies will argue that you and I are also immigrants, (ridiculous, but to the average lazy American, this is a rock solid argument), and support to change this will falter. And since PJB opened his big mouth about it, it will give cover to the left to oppose it, just because Buchanan is for it. The only reason PJB is still around is to sell books, and keep his sell-out face on the tube. When he left the GOP, I saw him for what he is, an opportunist. Any one who still believes in that big mouth is misguided at the very least, needs a couple of years in a padded room in more severe cases.....

Conservatives are opposed to practicing homosexuals which is why this guy was not a real conservative and why I refrained from calling him such anywhere on this thread. He led a nationalist anti-immigrant party, but not a conservative one and yes, there is a difference. Honestly, I could never have brought myself to vote for this guy because he vehemently opposed what traditional conservatives like me stand for. Indeed, what initiated his anti-Muslim comments was not Muslim support for terrorism or for their opposition to constitutional republicanism, but rather it was the Islamic rejection of homosexuality, a stand that conservatives also embrace. Hardly a principled stand for Fortuyn I should say.

Don't think that FR conservatives have forgotten your unqualified support of Bush and his liberal policies during this critical time for our country. Bush has helped destroy the Republican Party by foisting leftist pro-abortion leaders on it like Marc Racicot, Richard Riorden and others and decimated its ability to win elections by signing the Democrap Congressional Majority Insurance Bill against the will of 90% of Congressional Republicans and virtually his entire Republican base and he has attempted to further subvert our country by trying to ram through a bill that would amnesty two million illegal aliens from Mexico and exacerbate our immigration, border security problems and increase the threat of additional 9-11 attacks being repeated. Why do you foist your Commie-lib smears on conservative champion, Pat Buchanan who supports the same immigration and cultural conservative policies that you claim to support, but work full-time to defend Bush's immigration, campaign finance, and unilateral nuclear disarmament policies which together amount to national suicide for this country? If you were a real patriot, you would have praised Pat Buchanan for defecting from the GOP on principle even if you thought like I did that he should have stayed to provide continued leadership for the conservative opposition to Bush's liberal policies.

"Bush's liberal policies"

Yeah, right, Bush is a liberal. With nuts like this, who can't tell a Democrat from a Republican, the fight is over, the Dems have won. This dullard thinks the moderate wing of the Republican party is evil. With so-called "conservatives" like this PJB disciple, who needs real enemies???

Well with willfully blind "stick your head in the sand" RINOs like you, it looks like its time to send you back to school and review some of Bush's vaunted "conservative" accomplishments while in office.

Let’s review the real Bush record.

* Began implementation of his plan to unilaterally disarm the US of 75% of its strategic deterrent, which will eliminate the US as a nuclear superpower and permit the Sino-Russian alliance to supplant the US as the most powerful political and military force on the planet. It will also make the world safe for nuclear war by eliminating the US ability to deter nuclear attack from the superior nuclear forces of the Russian Federation.

* Supported anti-nuke wacko proposals to ‘de-alert’ much of our remaining nuclear triad making it impossible to fire except within several days or weeks upon the decision being made to do so.

* Agreed to continue the Democrap Congress mandated ban on nuclear testing, which his father opposed.

* Supported a Clinton initiated Army Transformation plan which will unilaterally disarm the Army of all of its war-winning main-battle tanks and tracked vehicles including the Crusader SP artillery system.

* Attempted to forge a strategic partnership with prime 9-11 terrorist state sponsor Iran in the misnamed “war against terrorism.”

* Appeased Communist China and embarrassed his country by disgracefully apologizing to the Communist Chinese hostagetakers who kidnapped the brave crew of the EP-3 recon plane they forced down.

* Appeased Communist China with an executive order legalizing the sale of computers 50-100 times as powerful as those sold under Clinton’s watch during the Chinagate scandal which caused Rep. Henry Hyde, Chairman of the International Relations Committee to remark that these 600 US supercomputers purchased by Communist China gave it “more computing power than the entire Department of Defense.”

* Forced a vote in Congress on permanent Most Favored Nation trade status with and WTO membership for Communist China so that the PRC would continue to enjoy a $100 billion a year trade surplus with which to build themselves into the best nuclear superpower enemy US trade surplus can buy.

* Refused to support repeal of the 1994 Clinton gun-ban and championed tougher implementation of all draconian gun-control legislation now on the books by pledging to throw gun-control violaters into prison and throw away the key.

* Forced a stealth vote on the amnesty of two million illegal aliens in the House of Represenative as the first step in a much broader amnesty plan to effect millions more.

* Passed the radical Ted Kennedy education bill which federalizes education and providing tens of billions more a year for the liberal Department of Education, NEA to foist their perverse atheist liberal dogma upon our children.

* Appointed as the head of the Supreme Court Justice nominee search team and announced that the front-runner for his first Supreme Court pick is White House Counsel Albert Gonzales, a pro-abortion liberal who as Bush’s appointed Texas Supreme Court Justice found Bush’s own tepid parental notification on abortion legislation to be constitutionally impermissible. Why didn’t Bush appoint earstwhile pro-life champion Attorney General John Ashcroft to lead the Supreme Court nominee search team?

* Championed a Kyoto Lite Plan to appease the environmental wackos.

* Signed the Democrat Incumbent Protection Act which will have the effect of permanently reducing the Republican Party to minority status and making it much more difficult for Republicans to get elected nationwide.

* Left 99.9% of Clinton’s last minute unconstitutional executive orders in place.

* Championed and increased funding for Clinton’s fascistic AmeriKorps national service program

* Approved continued federal funding for the harvesting of stem cells from aborted babies.

* Hosted Communist President Dos Santos of Angola only days after his assasination of Reagan's favorite anti-Communist freedom fighter, Dr. Jonas Savimbi failing to utter one word of protest over this assassination which was a violation of the peace process which Bush claimed to support.

* Refused to campaign with or do a TV commercial for conservative gubernatorial Republican nominee for Governor Mark Earley when all post-election polls and studies show that had he done so the Repubilcans would have won the Governorship and the Lt Governorship, whereas the Democrap candidates narrowly won both, subjecting my home state to Democrap rule for the first time in 8 years.

* Championed the election of moderate to liberal candidates in state primaries nationwide including most notably Richard Riorden for Governor of California, a RINO to the left of Bill Clinton who has championed partial birth abortion, gay rights, endorsed scores of Democrap incumbents and has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democrap candidates.

* Engineered a successful takeover attempt of the once-conservative California Republican Party by arch-liberal Gerald Parsky who has called for the California Republican Party to be pro-gay, pro-abortion, and pro-illegal immigrant as the only way to win elections and denounced moderate conservative GOP gubernatorial nominee Bill Simon as an extremist for being pro-life. This one Bush mistake alone will likely prevent an otherwise likely GOP victory in the critical California Governor's race in November due to Parsky's continuing refusal to support Simon or help him raise money.

* Championed a globalist Free Trade for the America's Treaty which would serve as the precursor to uniting the Western Hemisphere into a North American Union similar to the EU.

* Supporting the entry of Russia into NATO as a full-voting de-facto member with veto power which will mean the complete and permanent end of NATO as a military alliance capable of opposing Russian and Communist aggression.

Sure Bush has done some good things. However, as you can see Bush's overall bipartisan "moderate" record and betrayals of the conservative Republican cause are very much widespread and not limited to merely a few isolated incidents. I am all too willing to support a united front except when it does more to advance the liberal Clintonite agenda as Bush has done. All the facts are on my side. I put my allegience to conservative principles and party first, not to any one man as you do who in this case has betrayed both.

Bush policies on the PLO, campaign finance reform and stem cell research using human embryos has undermined Bush support among conservative Republicans like Alan Keyes, David and Rush Limbaugh.

Bush is quandering his political and moral capital with conservatives by not calling the PLO and Arafat terrorists and accepting the Saudi statements that the Saudis only support freedom fighters, not terrorists. The Saudis supported the 9/11 hijacker pilots many of whom were Saudi and the Saudis support Hamas, who are terrorists. Bush continues to allow the Saudis to call Hamas freedom fighters. Bush's ME terror policy with the PLO and Saudis is undermining America's own war on terrorism around the world.

While these issues do not at first seem as important as the ones rightwing2 listed, they can have a long term weakening effect on US national security.

Thanks for your input. Here are three more points to add to Bush's left-of-center record which are anathema to conservatives:

* Submitted the first unbalanced budget to Congress in five years

* Opposed the Israel’s efforts to defend itself from Palestinian terrorist suicide bombers and called for the immediate withdrawal of Israel from “the occupied territories”, of which Israel's claim is at least as great as that of the Palestinians.

* Supported the creation of a Palestinian state led by longtime PLO terrorist leader Yassir Arafat, something even Bill Clinton refused to do.

While Keyes has opposed Bush's leftward march for sometime now, Rush and David Limbaugh's recent defections from the Bush cheerleader camp have been most heartening and show that the conservative cause is making progress. The best solution to Bush's abandonment and in many cases betrayal of his conservative base is to send a message to him by voting for whichever conservative runs against him in the Republican Presidential primaries in 2004. Many people complain to me that there is no alternative to Bush for conservatives. That is not true. I have listed a lot of alternatives. In this case, I am urging all conservative Republicans to vote for Alan Keyes for President in 2004. Even if Keyes were to lose, a 30% or better showing by Keyes against the President would likely help him pay attention to his conservative base, that he has so neglected, in the future. Best case would be a Keyes victory over Bush where he could crush Gore-Hillary in the debates. Better still would be persuading Pat Buchanan to run for President again to once more champion the conservative Republican cause which he so well represented when he came in a strong 2nd in both the 1992 and 1996 Republican presidential primaries. Pat is the only man I know who can outdebate even the masterfully intelligent and eloquent Alan Keyes.

Did you mention that Bush is giving a record number of Title X dollars to Planned Parenthood this year? Dont forget the continuance of the Clinton domestic partner policy at the state department, or Ashcroft joining up with Sarah Brady over those rifles with military stocks.
