Why is America negotiating away her sovereignty? Because by 1969, at the latest, the liberalism that controls America (by controlling its media and schools) had degenerated into an anti-white, genocidal, racist movement. By their control of the media, especially television, they control the political process by brainwashing the masses and thumping the pols who get out of line. Libs want open borders because they hate white America and want to see it destroyed, in some cases because they believe it will usher in some sort of one-world utopia (the Utopianists), or because of primary racism (mainly the ethnic, religious, and sexual minority members of this coalition, though Hard Utopianists like Michael Moore also deserve to be put in this catagory), or simply for self-advancement (the collaborators. Many journalists and professors are in this category), or some combination of all three. "Conservative" politicians and pundits understand how the system works, how controlled it really is, and who controls it. Those with principles find it virtually impossible to get elected or get a job in the media if they oppose any of the really sacred doctrines of the Media Mullahs, the ones that are left tend to be, ahem, flexible. Since they can't really change things so why destroy their careers tilting at windmills? George W. Bush doesn't care whether erasing the borders is good for America, he only cares if it is good for his re-election effort. He hopes it will win him Hispanic votes, and more importantly, though never stated, it will keep leftist media and academia from branding him a RACIST. The latter is the real reason "conservatives" and Republicans have embraced immigration over the last few decades, NOT because of economics but to appease the political power structure. The ultimate reason is the growing irrelevance of democracy in the face of the technology of modern mass-communication and its concentration in the hands of a smaller and smaller group of people.
