This is GOING TO HAPPEN no matter what neither you, nor I, nor President Bush, nor President Fox, nor Fidel Castro do to stop it.

It can turn into a very good thing, IMHO. Living in South America (in Chile) I can see first hand that these people have a great deal to contribute to the U.S. and will in the end continue the American dream, not end it. They are in general MUCH more religious and of higher moral character than many or even most Americans.

There is a selection effect w/ respect to the immigrants (or at least there used to be). Only the ones willing to make the effort to leave their own country and make a go of it in the U.S. would show up, and these were very hardworking and resourceful.

That has changed a lot now thanks to the People's Republic of Kalifornia welfare rules. Sigh...

He goes on and on in his book The Death of the West lamenting about Europe's low birthrate. Irregardless of whether Europe is populated by white people, it is the values and politics which are anathema to us conservatives.

Whereas, as you point out, the immigrants from Latin countries to the south are religious and pro-family and long term may be conservative as they prosper.

It's just that there are too many immigrants to assimilate well at this point, and the multicultural emphasis is not indoctrinating either the immigrants or the next generation of Americans about the uniqueness and importance of American values.

This needs to be addressed in light of what is happening in Europe.

We shouldn't be concerned over what color this country turns out to be, as long as it is based on the heritage we received from our America forefathers.

Unlike Europe, we are a Republic founded on an Ideal..not a historic boundry or race. If the latino's embrace the American Ideal they will be just as American as any of us. No harm no foul.

News Flash: Hispanic people are a) Christian in religion and culture and b) by and large ethnically a Caucasian-American Indian mix. In other words, they're every bit as "white" as the average American is, and most of them that I've met are easily just as Christian, too -- in many cases, more so.

Now, if you're afraid that the WASP, Puritan, New England-dominted elite is on the way out -- you're right. They aborted and contracepted themselves right out of the running. The future of America belongs to the BEACH -- the Brown Euro-American Catholic Hispanic -- and that's just fine by me. At least they like kids.

California is going down the tubes because of its leftist politics and masses of unassimilated peasants. If you want to see what the future of America looks like, look at Texas; we have our problems here, but most of us work hard and get along fairly well no matter our skin color. Why? Because most Texans share the same cultural values: we work hard, play hard, respect innocent life, and believe in harsh justice when called for. The combination of Mediterranean/Latin joie de vivre and Anglo-Celtic-Germanic thrift and industry that exemplifies Texan culture is the reason why so many people love this humid, hot, heavenly state, and why we -- God willing -- will succeed where SoCal has failed.
