The Mission of SCRAP:

The purpose of SCRAP is two-fold. First of all, we'd like to communicate a better understanding of racism: how it works on many levels (institutionally and individually), how it functions at the level of everyday assumptions and actions, how White people benefit from the disadvantages of racial/ethnic minorities, and how not discussing or confronting racism is the best way to perpetuate it. Instead of taking a colorblind or "multiculturalist" approach to racism, we would like to promote more awareness of the structures of racism and their relation to power and privilege. Examining and deconstructing Whiteness is a large part of this. Secondly, we'd like to empower more people, ESPECIALLY White people, to act against racism. We'd like to encourage White people to be honest with themselves about their own racism, unawareness, and privilege, so that they may begin to confront racism in all aspects of their lives.

Great idea. I think we are always finding and reporting on racism and double-standards on this board. For example, you will find lots of articles posted about Zimbabwe and how White farmers are tracked down and killed.

I'm assuming that this Janelle Orsi person is white? If so, I would like to suggest to them that they should go for a stroll through Compton with a sign around their neck that says "Please punish me, I'm white". In this way they could do their part for the gene pool, assuage their white liberal guilt, and maybe even be a contender for this year's "Darwin award". What a festering fool.

She's unfortunately very typical of a widely held view. We've had speakers at our school who say exactly the things on her web page; our administration brings them in and makes us listen to them.

And the strange thing is, to these people racism could never go away. If it did, they would find something else and call it racism ( see Durban conference for details). If racism did go away in their mind, they could not exist, therefore they will not allow it to go away. These types always require something to taunt the mainstream with. They have a psychological disorder that requires them to analyze the cultural landscape and champion everything that shocks and taunts the cultural middle.

I always wonder how people like this react when they discover that Thomas Sowell is black. I mean, he's been writing on the topic of Race in America for 2 decades so you can't say he's selling out or doesn't really know the issue.

I guess the real problem with liberal kids is that you know if they are smart, they will eventually come around. You just hate to hear them spout so much that they will inevitably be embarrassed about.

Got these Black and Hispanic guys running around town in fancy cars and expensive clothes and we gain the advantage of drugs, prostitution, gangs, and corruption. What are we thinking about when we want not to accept all these advantages from these wealthy disavantaged people?

I've heard this quotation variously attributed to Disraeli, Churchill, and numerous others.

You can immunize your kids against liberal silliness. I recommend healthy doses of Heinlein and Ayn Rand. Later, they can move on to Von Mises and Hazlitt. Worked for me.
