TAX Max Cleland Wants to Raise Your Taxes

“Tax Max” Supports Resurrecting Death Tax and Other Taxes, Opposes President Bush and Zell Miller On Making Tax Cuts Permanent, Sides with Tax-and-Spend Democrats Yesterday Senator Max Cleland announced that he favored raising taxes, including resurrecting the death tax and large hikes in federal income taxes and taxes on small businesses and family farms. In an Associated Press report, Cleland called making the Bush tax cuts permanent “dangerous economics.”[1]

Cleland, who has voted 116 times for higher taxes during his term and voted 29 times to cut or delay the implementation of the Bush tax cut, again showed why he is known as “Tax Max.” Cleland said of the Bush plan to keep the tax cuts in place after 2011, “That is dangerous economics....Eight years from now we don't know what the economy is going to be like, and it'd be foolish to predict.''

“Max Cleland’s statement shows once again his hostility to true and permanent tax cuts and why he is an enemy of taxpayers,” said Ralph Reed, Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party. “It shows when the chips are down and his vote really counts, he always sides with tax-and-spend Democrats and against the taxpayers. That is why we need a new U.S. Senator who will vote with President Bush and for the people of Georgia.”

In opposing the permanence of the Bush tax cuts, Cleland is actually favoring resurrecting the death tax, eliminating education tax credits for working families, reinstating the marriage penalty, and raising income taxes. Once again he has sided with Tom Daschle and Ted Kennedy and is opposing the taxpayers of Georgia, President George W. Bush and Zell Miller.

Cleland’s comments hit the AP wire Thursday afternoon. They suggest that taxes will be a major issue in the 2002 campaign. “We will make sure every registered voter knows that Max Cleland favors raising their taxes,” pledged Reed.

Well, all that is said here about Max Cleland is true. He is Commie to the core. I can also see why Bob Irvin and Saxby Chambliss want to emphasize the tax issue in their campaigns because that is about the only issue of importance in which they disagree with Cleland. On issues like affirmative action and open borders immigration they are both in lock step with him. DEMS AND PUBS, ONE AND THE SAME.
