There is more to President Bush's relatively high approval ratings than just the patriotic, rally-round-the-flag effect of his leadership in the war on terrorism, a new USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll suggests.
Built on the faith Americans showed in him following his response to terror attacks on Sept. 11, the poll shows that almost eight months later Bush has developed an image among most Americans as a strong, competent, leader who shares their values and has elevated respect for presidency.

I don't take it well when you have people crying over the president and claiming that, "He is my Heart". Only Christ is worthy of such a statement.
They MAY strike it down, but is taking the risk, when a president is supposed to veto the legislation if it is UnConstitutional (of which it is), worth it? After all, principles do matter.
Get out really?? ... LOL
Well up here in Yankee Land I can tell you that we did not say prayers in public school
I can't speak for others .. and I am not questioning Our Founding Fathers ..
What I am questioning is YOUR solution on solving the problem
They are NOT being granted citizenship .. they are being granted a GREEN CARD if the pass the requirements needed
Bush is a good man and thats hard to say about most politicians.
Yes I know what a Green Card is
BTW where did you family tree come from .. Mine came from Ireland
And I recall hearing these same kind of stories from my Grandmother that was said about the Irish ..
I also recall hearing the story of "Irish need not apply"
Then there is my husbands family .. they came from Italy ..
And you know for a fact that ALL mexicans believe this .. how???
Also I could be wrong .. but I do believe there are certain requirements when applying for a green card
Illegal Aliens are NOT immigrants. Furthermore, the waves of immigration that you are discussing are far different to what is occuring today with the presence of the social welfare state, "ethnic" law groups, affirmative action, multiculturalism, and increasing bilingualism, Mexican nationalism, and foreign pandering. Furthermore, most past waves came here to be Americans. Today, it is nothing more than about money. We also have a growing number of individuals flying foreign flags, claiming that we secure our borders is "racist", while we have an out of control left wing media who sneers common sense and the rule of law.
So, no, there is no comarison betwen then and now.
Because character matters. I've learned from reading and participating in FR discussion threads on Bush that I'm pretty much a pragmatist when it comes to Bush, or any political leader (while most on FR are idealists). As a conservative, I will never get a President who I agree with 100% of the time. The most I expect is to have a President I agree with more times than not, as opposed to a President I agree with hardly at all (as would have been the case with a President Gore).
The fact that Bush seems like a normal and decent guy, after eight years of abnormalcy and indecency, adds to the sometimes near-euphoria of his supporters.
This is a lie. You may disagree with the President all you wish, but you are dead wrong to repeat a lie, and you know it...... even if you are very young.
You know the facts about the so-called 'amnesty' of 'illegal' immigration. I read the post to you on this thread. But apparently facts don't get in the way of your feelings, do they?
I love this country, have lived more than twice as long as you have, and need to point out that you have revealed your ignorance of what American 'culture' is. One of the best things about America is that it is made up of many different cultures, blended into one. The leftists have tried to keep ethnic groups at odds with each other, but 9/11 crushed those efforts. We are once again e pluribus unum
You are the descendent of immigrants, and so am I, in case you don't realize that. I have no idea why you are so jaded at such a young age, but I truly feel sorry for you (and trust me, I would not feel as you do, even if I lived in California. I have friends and family who live there, and do not share your feelings about immigration).
You are missing out on the joy of living in the greatest country on earth, and celebrating the Presidency of a strong and honorable man. Too bad for you.
